Thank you Yo Eleven, your info jives with what I've researched. I asked on the Princess board if they accept hop bets on Princess ships and got only one reply, no. I guess the objective of the hops seven and eleven bet in the dark side strategy I was reading about is to hedge your don't pass bet on the roll out. If you survive the roll out, you lose your 7/11 bets but now the odds are in your favor. If shooter rolls out 7/11, you win $15/$17 and recoup some of your don't pass bet. This strategy make any sense to you?

Yeah princess does not do hop bets. But, I have found the staff there to be awesome. Dealers there were way cool on all ships I have been on.

You are correct. SOME darksiders will hedge their don't pass bet with the hop seven bet. I was in Biloxi and didn't see it going on that much at all. They have hop bets on their layouts there. It isn't a good bet, but better than ANY SEVEN. So if you want to hedge on the come out roll with a seven, it makes sense to hop it rather than doing any seven. Good luck!

I have been on both....

Very possible. Did Sea Escape a lot until they shipped out of here.

Then hit Princess, but they left as well. Supposedly a new ship is coming to town again and they should have craps. I am trying to see if I recognize you in your avatar but too small, but you probably seen me there. Thumbs up!

You would have recognized me from the mustache if you knew me. Plus, I am a pretty big guy (tall and wide). Plus, I bet pretty big when I am at the craps table.

I have not heard anything about a new ship coming in.

That strategy is employed by castrated darkside players. Your numbers are off, neither the 7 nor the 11 pays off $17. If you bet $3 on the 3 way 7 and $1 on the 11, if either the 7 or the 11 rolls you'll get back $12 ($16-$4 = $12), $16 if you take your bets down.

Hedging a good be with a bad bet is just stupid.

I bet come bets, and always keep the odds working on the comout roll. Often I have a lot of money up, and all too often the shooter rolls a seven on the comeout. I can't tell you how many times somebody has suggested to me that I bet the big red to hedge my come bets.

I see players all the time betting/hopping the 7 to protect their come bets and that is a halfway decent strategy when put bets are allowed. I have read where it is a good strategy to work your odds on the come out roll when you have 3 or more numbers working, but I don't see the risk/reward being worth it. The odds of the 7 rolling are the same on the come out roll as any other roll, I know, but seems to happen more often on the come out roll.

I just got off the Oasis and the table was like ice all week, they could have used it as a salad bar. The dealers were some of the best I've encountered. I really don't like it when the shooter is playing the Don't Pass line.

Players were trying everything, Pass, Come, Don't Pass, Don't Come, Horn, midnight, hop, field; nothing seemed to work for long enough to cash out a winner. Only two nights did I cash out a winner; even for the week.

I was there as well and agree the dealers were some of the best. I knew Elle from last year and she is always great.

You guys are both funny, arguing over which sucker bet is worse.

What is even more funny is seeing our pal completely destroy a thread on the open forums. The term village idiot comes to mind. But that is okay though. We don't mind him here. Here can be our pet. THAT's my boy! We do have to learn to control him though so he doesn't get himself into more trouble. Anyone got a muzzle we can use to make him behave? :p

Now they do allow dogs in the casino if they are doing a service. And he certainly is. Cleaning the ash tray I am using for my cigars while I shoot my dice trying to roll my seven. :D

Nothing says "I have a man crush on you" more than internet stalking.

Well, au contraire, sporting a moniker "ThatMan" makes me wonder as well. :p

Anyway, how about adding to your 11 total post count with some craps talk?

I was at a craps table Monday morning and wasn't paying attention (half asleep still) and accidently put my bet down on don't pass. I actually won twice in a row before I realized what I had done.

I had a super long roll later that day (seemed like forever) where I absolutely killed someone betting the don't pass...there is no greater joy :D

I do agree, after the casino, I love taking a don't player's money second most.

I'm currently in Las Vegas helping a friend get a business going, while he was with his lawyer I was out picking up some parts when I heard the sirens of the craps table call my name. I was coming up on Arizona Charlies and had never played craps at their Boulder Highway location so I stopped on in. Bought in for a mere $60 on a $3 min table with no other players in sight, gotta love local joints. $3 on the DP (I figure there is a reason the table is dead) roll the dice and "Winner 7" is the stickman's call. Ok, $57 left in this bank roll. $3 on the DP 10 xs odds table, point of 9. $6 lay and $27 across just in case I roll a few numbers. My plan is to take the numbers down as they roll to increase my lay. "7 out" on the second roll. Ok, ok, 3 rolls and bankroll is taking a beating. $3 on the pass line "10 easy 10, point of 10" the stickman calls and I take $6 odds and $15 across. Numbers start to roll, press 4 and 9, press the 6, press the 5, press the 8. Blue chips turn to red, red ships become small stacks and turn green, I start to collect on some of the numbers and I'm back to even, press some more 12 rolls, I turn my bets off, 5, 6, 8 winner 10.

Come out on a point of 8, I leave my bets off more numbers roll "I'm working again" press, collect, press some more. By the time I 7 out I have $340 in the rail and $355 in action. I stack my chips up, one dealer guesses I have $200 there, the other $350, boxman guesses $325 I say I'll be happy with $330, $341 is the exact amount, I take $300 and put it in my pocket, give the dealers $11 and tell them the other $30 is for them, do they want a hand in or for me to bet it. "Bet it" is the sticman's reply. While I was shooting another player came to the table, it's his turn to shoot. Gets a point of 4 and I put $30 outside, next number is the 5, I press it to $15 and the dealers put $9 more in the box. "7 out" is the next roll. I pull $20 from my wallet and lay it on the table for the dealers and go to the cage.

I made $240, the dealers got $40 and if the other shooter could have rolled more numbers who knows how much more they could have had.

I too am an avid craps player. I taught both my kids to play on cruise.

On my last cruise I won $650 in one session playing the dark side. The strange part was that the rest of the table was playing also and I was the low winner.

I played on the Spirit last March and in the end got to know the pit boss really well to the point he gave me a collared Carnival shirt.

  • 2 weeks later...

New to the game and returned from sailing on the Glory May 29. Have to say that I had a very informative and fun time at the Craps table. I lost money , but I still had a great time.

Did get to watch one gent lose a few grand playing the darkside.

Question: I apparently had this knack for rolling 7's. 4 in a row on the passline and within 2 or 3 rolls of making point. How do I put this to my advantage other than play the darkside all the time?

REALLY?

I don't understand jerks that act like that. When I play DP I don't root for a 7 - until I get people like YOU at the table.

what's interesting is that MOST DP players are respectful and STILL people make silly coments like you make.

PS You're not taking the DP's money its the casino.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Mr. Luckytoo: The House pays all winning bets whether they be on the dark side or right side betters. The House also collects all losing bets whether they be the right side or wrong side. Guys, you are always playing against the House. You don't play Pass Line Vs Don't Pass in the Casino. In actuality, the Don't better has a slight advantage. But, that advantage is insignificant.

And no one should be rude to another player at the table. When someone is rude regardless of who it is I go against them.

Love Craps! Of the half dozen times i've been to Veags I've played on hand of BlackJack and a few spins of roulette. Other than that ITS ALL Craps ALL the time!

Sailing the Inspiration on 06.24.10 and can't wait to hit up the table! Standard player; Pass and come action. Maybe some hardways if the table is rowdy and I've been winning.

I play regularly in Atlantic City and have been playing on cruise ships for for about 2 1/2 years. My last trip was on the Emerald Princess last November. The craps was terrible. They never opened the talbe during the day time on an at sea day. In the evening it didn't open until 9:00 at night and they only had half the table open. I managed to win money on the cruise but it was not enjoyable at all.

Welcome hard_eight! Awesome moniker and avatar you have there! Enjoy the site here! Oh.....

Do you always place sucker bets? HAHAHAHAHA!

:p

Every now and then I throw a two way out there. Generally just put the boys on the line though...

I'm pretty basic. Pass line/odds, Place bets press and take, Come bets with odds.

I've only been on one cruise and that was back before I played craps. I got hooked on craps in Vegas.

It's usually 5$ minimums on the boats right? $10 minimums is expensive when playing craps.

Definition of bad luck:

After come out with point of 5, I lay 4& 10, place 6&8 for $12 each. Intoxicated shooter has pass line flat and betting field. Next rolls 2,4,10,&7. I shake my head and dealer says "I'd quit too"!

It's taken me a week to get through this thread, but I have thoroughly enjoyed all the info both good and bad.

I agree that there is no place for players being rude to each other and in my experience it usally involves alcohol.

I haven't played the dark side, but I definitely will if the tables are as bad as my last few outings. Yo thanks for all the tips on your stratigies as well as your humor.

I've been playing for 10 years at low stakes and learned the hard way- at the table. I appreciate all of you explaining the game to us newbies making it less expensive and more enjoyable!

IMO there is no need to play and give the house anymore advantage than necessary, but I see it eveytime I play, apparently from ignorance.

Cheers,

Victor
