Craps Players Step Inside!

Well I like to wait until you old folks go to bed before shooting dice. I have concerns when y'all bring tanks of oxygen to the table. Craps and explosions don't mix well. :p

Some of us are so old and feeble we can't get the dice to hit the other end of the table.:D I have to stand next to the stick man just so I'll be that much closer to the other end. Come on over after 11:00 (PM that is) and I'll show you how to set and throw the dice.;)

I've always thought of craps as an old timer's game. In fact on the couple of HAL cruises we mistakenly went on, my DW and I were often the only ones at the table, which surprised me.

Sailed the Glory in May and met some great players and had a total blast.

First timer, with the uncanny knack of throwing 7's all the time. especially after the point.

Going out on the Fantasy in Sept. Hope to have more fun....

Yo Eleven, get this man a dark side decoder ring.

You don't know how bad I wanted to play the darkside, but the folks I met at the table were really not for that.

I watched an old timer drop $1k within 5 minutes on 2 nights playing the darkside and the folks let him know he was not welcomed

They did like the 4 - 7's in a row on the pass line though

Yeah that is par for the course all right. Not being welcomed that is. As for the old timer. I am certain he has had nights were he left the casino with $2,500 or more to the good.

I can imagine something like that working in a land casino, but on a cruise boat. I dunno.

The first night I saw him there, he was dressed in all black w/ black hat like an Old West Undertaker.

The 2nd night he was dressed like a homeless bum in shorts.

Both nights he plopped down $1k and was tossing a wad of chips on don't pass. In fact the 2nd night the dealers had to hold him back as he kept wanting to bet over the table limit of $250.

He honestly reminded me of the movie Brewster Millions where Richard Pryor had to spend all the money before a certain time.

It was like he had a burn to lose it..

It was different though.

I did meet a gent named Chuck from NY. He knew what he was doing and taught me about C&E. That was a fun trip..

Obviously 1K to him was chump change. Yeah-that is what I meant. He prolly won big on land base casinos and was just trying to catch bait fish during the cruise he was on.

Adjust your schedule so you show up at 11pm or later to shoot craps. Most of the idiot players are sleeping by then. :D

YUCK! By that time of night the dice are NASTY - too many sticky figers. Give me a nice clean sharp edged pair any day.

Just back from a week on RCCL Serenade OS. Encountered empty table frequently, and just as well. Dice control works best when you can get the dice back quickly. By week's end there were quite a few believers.

Nothing like a practically free cruise. LOL.

On an empty table a DI can make LOTS of money shooting DP

$100 DP set a point of 8

$25 DC toss a 6 with $125 lay

Toss a 7 and collect $225 in 3 tosses - and get the dice back at an empty table.

Keeps the other people away cuz they don't have a clue what you're doing!

Nothing ticks me off MORE than cheapskate craps players when I've got lots of $ on the table.

Was in AC 2 weekends ago. Playing rightside. Shooter is doing well from SO. Shoot has over $500 in action. I've only got $110 in action and this jerk holds up the table arguing about his $1 hardway that was knocked off and he never replaced. He had maybe $12 on the table and just wouldn't shut up.

The problem is that there is only one craps table on a cruise ship and for many their $5 play is what their bankroll can afford. And for many, it is their first time trying to learn how to play craps.

What ticks ME off, is the big shot who comes to the table drops $1000 then makes himself a loud mouth pain in the butt to everyone else as he places bets all over the table, including a horn bet, holds up the game with all his big shot chit-chat with he dealers then gets all pissed off that he loses all his money in 10 minutes and storms off.

Sounds like the $100 chip player that sits down at a $5 blackjack table then complains when someone splits 10's. Go sit at a $100 table by yourself.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO cruzincurt: Everyone must play within themselves including within their bankroll. Otherwise the player won't enjoy themselves, and/or the player might not be able to afford to play for long.

Exactly, to complain about cheap craps players is arrogant. Go play at a high stakes table if you can't stand the low chip players.

Seems to me the $5 newbies generally throw the dice as well as the $$$ players. They mouth off as the low chip players 7 out then when the dice gets to them, they generally don't do much better....Then of course there are those of us that can control the dice.;)

One time in Freeport, a black chip bettor was losing and complaining bout the red chip players. I finally opened and told him our red chips are just as important to us as the blacks were to him. He shut right up. Getting ready to sail on the Freedom for back to back this afternoon. Be back on the 31 st. Will give a update later.

Very valid point. I wasn't talking about a cruise ship. In fact on a ship I use red & green chips only. too many newbies and the dealers aren't always as reliable.

As for horn betting fools - too much time, bad odds, etc., It may seem like fun but it's a BR drain in the long run.

As for the BJ tables on ships - with the CSM you won't find me playing with black chips - having said that anyone who splits 10-10 is just an idiot.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO cruincurt: There is no correlation between a low roller or a high roller having better rolls.

Even dice controllers have off days. King Scobe even talks about when he was on an extended losing streak when nothing seemed to go right. This happens.

So, some people have too much money and think the horn bet is a good one. That's why they aren't at the table for very long.;)

As for splitting 10's, yep, but maybe might make sense in a tournament.

I wasn't trying to slam red chip bettors in my prior post, if I appeared to be doing that I am sorry. What bothered me was this gentleman's attitude. He was one of those guys who placed a $5 DC and when the 6 rolled he placed the 6 for $6. I understand the 'hedging' but that's lot of work for a $1 profit.

On another occassion he would place $22 inside and after 2 tosses take everything down. I mean why not just turn it off?

He was one of those people who just liked to make the dealers work hard, never tipped and was very 'selfish'. I've seen this behavior with red, green and black chippers as well. Rudeness has no monatary limits!

Apology accepted. As you say, poor behavior can be present at any level. He probably thought he was very savvy working the bets. Guys like that upset me when the interrupt the flow of the game.

Personally, I'd rather sit at first base at BJ so no one remembers what I might have done. I just smile to myself when someone misplays their hand and loses because of it.

Hey all,

Just came across this forum. Nice! I had a questions about strategy if ya'll don't mind.

I will usualy place across once the point is established. Then I will play come bets, trying to cover comes across. If the shoot his the point, would it be a good idea to keep your comes working and hop the red? Thanks!
