Fake Eyelashes

Recommended Posts

Good morining, I have not seen this conversation till now. But there are salons that do add eyelashes to your own, just as if doing nails. I have tried it and i like them. they attach by using the glue that is used for butterfly stitching. Depending how often you wear make up they last for a while. They fall off just like normal lashes and you dont need mascara. My lashes are full and look great. You can find the info on the internet. It may not be for everyone but I enjoy the pampering. Enjoy your day ladies! Jo

What do you do when they start falling out? Do you just go back and get 'fills'?

I could never stand the feel of false eyelashes, even though they looked good. So a few months ago I had the individual ones professionally glued on, one by one. They look fantastic, and I don't have to wear mascara! Feel totally natural, I can't even tell that I have them on.

What type of salon puts them on you? I know my hair salon doesn't.

Look @ some youtube.com tutorials.

I did the same thing. I did see where they had some 'demi' lashes that went on only the outside half of your eyelashs. I figured I would try this first just to practice.

They also said to put your eyeliner first to cover any gaps between your real eyelashes and the false ones.

I spent about 90 on salon/spa ones and although they looked great they lasted about 10 days. Why not have a salon do them for you, if you have the extra $$? Just a thought. I also tried self application and they looked horrible (??the wine beforehand??)!!

"the wine beforehand"....funny!

I love, love, love the individually applied lashes. I can't tell I have them on either. Another poster asked about swimming with them. You replied that you don't swim, but I do and I can say they stay on fine for the most part. It really depends how often you're in the water. I would say that the less time spent in the water, the longer they stay on. These things don't even cost that much. They're great!

No a hair salon doesn't do this. It's usually done at a spa, and usually they have one specialist that does it.

It time intensive and requires someone with a very steady hand.

Latisse Report......

Been using it a month now, and my eyelashes are definitely longer! Love that!

Haven't noticed that there are more of them (thicker) yet, but they say it takes 2 months to see the full effect.

No irritation, or skin darkening.

Latisse sounded really good to me until I read that your iris could turn brown and that it was irreversible. If one has blue or green eyes, that does not sound it would be worth taking a chance (unless you have always wanted brown eyes).

I like wearing them. Just give yourself an extra 10 min in your dressing up time for them. Their not hard to apply. Just have to make sure you get enough glue on the ends of the lash because if not it will start to peel off. Make sure you let the glue stay on the lashes for 30 seconds before you put the lashes on. Be sure to apply the lashes as close to your natural lash line as possible. Also, once you have them on make sure you draw your eyeliner over the lash line because this will make the eye lashes look more natural. Their very easy to peel off when your done with them & it doesn't hurt either. Ardell eyelash glues is the best glue that I've used for the lashes.

Their plenty of tutorials on youtube on how to apply them well. ;)

Can you give me a ball park time frame? The thought of sitting still for 2 hours doesn't reall thrill me.

It Takes me maybe 1/2 hour to do a full set on both eyes.

I like to start with a fresh set about every 3 weeks or so

Also I put mine on under my lashes Thats how they do it at the spa

With them under the lashes you can't tell there not real.

If you get a natural looking eyelash it really adds a glamorous effect to your eyes without looking fake. I recommend using Duo eyelash glue, it's the best I've used and another thing you can do it cut one eyelash strip in half and apply each half to the out corners of your lids, this way it's not a full set. It might take you a bit to get the hang of them but remember once you put the glue on the lashes, wave them around a bit (about 30 seconds or so) to let the glue get "tacky". Once you apply the lashes, use the blunt end of something (I use the side of my tweezers) to slide into proper place and hold. Good luck!!

The stats on that are a little iffy.

It seems that it turns hazel eyes darker, and only on patients who are using it for glaucoma....and therefore putting the medicine directly in their eyes. I have heard that this doesn't effect people who use it on their lids.

That said, I agree with you. If I had blue or green eyes, I don't know if I would use it.

Although their spokesperson, Brooke Shields, has blue eyes, and I can't imagine her risking losing color.

My pupils are dark brown, so it wasn't a concern for me.

A half hour? Wow, that's quick.

It took 1.5 hours to apply mine. I think she said she used 40 individual lashes per eye.

Under the lashes? Mine were attached to each lash, and they were so natural looking even I couldn't tell which were mine and which were not in a close-up mirror.

DaisySheraton,

While it took a long time, it was relaxing and I almost fell asleep.

Hey Sparkle, I wear fake eyelashes for all special occasions and have never had a problem. I have long lashes on my own but they aren't very thick so I use the fake ones. I'll give you a run down of my process:

1. If you curl your eyelashes, curl them lightly (not so that they stand straight up).

2. Like others have said, make sure that you let the glue set (30-40 sec) after you apply it to the eyelash. It won't stick unless you let it set.

3. I usually start from the outer part of my eye and work inward so that it isn't too far on the inside of your eye. If it gets too far in it will begin to irritate.

4. Try to get as close to your real eyelashes as possible.

5. After you put them on comb them with an eyelash brush and apply mascara. This is so that your real eyelashes and the fake eyelashes blend together.

You might want to do a trial run before you actually cruise, just in case you don't like them. Hope this helps!

Do you apply the individual lashes by yourself?
You don't have them professionally done?
If so, I think we're talking about two different things here.

My mother applies individual lashes on herself. Each lash has an "end" that's thicker - sort of like what you'd get if you cut up a strip of false eyelashes.
The ones that I had professionally applied at the spa had no such little "bulb" to use as an anchor, and when they fell off looked like a real eyelash came off. When my Mom loses one, it's obviously a fake one. Not that hers don't look good, they do, as she's been applying them for 20 years, but they don't have that totally natural look that the professionally applied ones have.
There is a mascara called "Fiberwig". The only place I have been able to find it is Sephora (online or in the store). It has fibers in it and is the absolute best of lengthening mascaras. It has been on the Today Show and in several women's magazines.

You might want to give it a try.
Found Fiberwig on Ebay for about 3.75 plus 10.00 shipping, does that sound like a good deal or not? Thanks

I originally used to get the Duo glue from Pharma Plus (here in Canada), however, I just recently ordered a few tubes from beautyshopoc.com They also have good lashes at a cheap price on there. I ordered a bunch for my makeup kit and they are pretty good.

I did this for a cruise two years ago and loved it. I got so many compliments on my lashes. I just wish the maintenance wasn't so high. They lasted for about two weeks and I had them filled in once.

It's been about 5 weeks now (?) and I have to say, I love, love love this stuff!

My eyelashes have grown really long! They aren't any thicker, but the mascara thickens them up.

I had been using a thinner mascara - just because I got it as a free sample - and my eyelashes still look soooo long. But tonight I went back to my regular Dior Show mascara, which does a little thickening, and WOW! I look like I've put on some false eyelashes!
Even my husband has noticed that my lashes are a lot longer (and he has bad eyesight).

To save money, I'm now going to switch to applying every other night.

I've had no negative reaction - no itching, no skin discoloration. I think the only negative reaction will be to my credit card! :D
