TimmyVan Posted May 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Hi all! We're planning a Royal Caribbean cruise in November, and I'm looking to arrange my own airfare from New York. I plan on leaving a day or two early -- but, I was wondering if anyone has a good idea of what flight times would be "safe" from both MIA, and FLL for our return. I'd hate to arrange 4:00pm flights home, only to hang out in the airport all day ... Any thoughts, or past experience would be appreciated! Thanks! lauren0309 Posted May 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I would say any flight after 1:00 would be safe. You have to figure that you have to be at the airport 2 hours before your flight meaning you would have to be at the airport at 11:00. I have a 1:40 flight scheduled out of Ft. Lauderdale to New York which I too arranged myself. Majesty of the Seas 3/02 Monarch of the Seas 2/03 Serenade of the Seas 11/03 Monarch of the Seas 2/03 Till the Enchantment! TimmyVan Posted May 5, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Hi! Thanks so much for the quick reply. After 1:30 sounds fine. Did you make arrangements for transfers on your own, or did you arrange them with Royal Caribbean? (Anytime I cruise out of Port Canaveral, I rent a car, and return it to the pier. It's a whole lot cheaper, and convenient than transfers) I just was wondering what the best action would be at MIA or FLL? Thanks again! lauren0309 Posted May 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I dont use Royal Caribbeans transfers because then you have to wait at the airport for all the other flights to come in. I usually take a cab from the airport to the ship. For our next cruise we are flying in a day earlier and the hotel in Ft. Lauderdale has a shuttle that takes you right to the ship. lauren0309 Posted May 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Timmy, We are booked at the Best Western Marina Inn at Ft. Lauderdale. They have a free shuttle pick up at the airport and the next morning they take you to the pier which is almost directly across the street. Its also right on the waterway so you can take a watertaxi to different shops and restaurants which should be fun. I'v had some negative reviews about this hotel after I had already booked it about it needs reburshing but for one night it should be fine for us. If you want more info about it go to a search engine and type in the hotel name. Majesty of the Seas 3/02 Monarch of the Seas 2/03 Serenade of the Seas 11/03 Till the Enchantment! lauren0309 Posted May 6, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Timmy Excuse my misspelling "refurbishing". I've been up since 4:30 a.m. Getting ready for work now. Lauren Till the Enchantment!
TimmyVan Posted May 6, 2004 Author #8 Share Posted May 6, 2004 Lauren, No need for an apology ... I'm up at 3am, and at work at 4am myself, I know how tough that is. Thanks for the information - I'll run a search and take a look! serene56 Posted May 7, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 7, 2004 Timmy: do a search on www.biddingfortravel.com check 3* for 38-45$$ most get the Hyatt for Downtown Miami. Also, when checking for flights look into the Fort Lauderdale (FLL) airport since sometimes you can save a lot of money going there instead. Its 30-60 mintue drive from Miami port.
