Nutbunch Posted June 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2009 Has anyone been housed on Dolphin Deck? There's an outdoor area on the deck plan of the Zaandam at the aft of the ship. Is that accessible by passengers? Is it less rocky down below? Thanks for your help!
CowPrincess Posted June 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 4, 2009 It is much less "rocky" that low in the ship -- we love it! As for the small deck, if it is like the Ryndam, it is a "crew only" area. We had a quick peek and it appeared to be where they could go to grab a quick smoke, or get a bit of air. Another advantage to being so low in the ship is that if you use the stairs everywhere you go (we do), you will find you get lots of exercise..... so we don't gain weight when we cruise! jtl513 Posted June 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2009 As a general rule, unlabelled white space is crew-only, and passenger accessible outside decks are "lined", such as the one at the stern of the Main deck.
Kween Karen Posted June 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2009 That is the deck I am on.............and have been before. The hint about exercise and using the stairs is true. I travel MANY times a day between deck 1 and deck 8...use stairs only.....LOTS of exercise!!
Nutbunch Posted June 4, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted June 4, 2009 I am glad about the exercise! I was planning on doing the fitness activities from 7am-8am each day, but maybe I can skip a day with all that stair climbing. :D I just wish the little deck area was available so I could leisurely look at scenery while sipping my coffee waiting on the slow to get ready kids in the morning. :p
JennyandJoeS Posted June 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 4, 2009 We always try to get as low in the ship as we can get, and in the middle. You get less motion there if you are prone to sea sickness as I am.
rubytue Posted June 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2009 It is a crew deck. There is a small deck one deck up that is accesible to passengers. It is very loud there, due to the engines. Additionally, it is near flammable liquid storage, so there are no smoking signs all around the deck. That may be a good thing or a bad thing for you.
