Loyalty Program..do you sail other lines?

Recommended Posts

Do you travel almost exclusively with a cruise line (just) because you are a member of their loyalty program?

No longer. We were loyal to RCI but with the change to the Diamond benefits, we're looking at other cruise lines. Even though Celebrity's loyalty program is nonexistant, we feel like they really appreciate returning cruisers. Don't feel like that with RCI.

DH and I are D+, Elite, VIP, whatever on RCI, Celebrity, HAL, Princess, Carnival, NCL and Cunard.

We started sailing in 1971 so, we cruised before loyalty programs or frequent cruiser programs were invented. We cruise because we love cruising and select based on the timing, the itinerary, the price and the cruise line.

DH wants to cruise every ship, so, we are on different cruise lines all the time. We will continue to cruise because we love cruising and will continue to select based on timing, the itinerary, the price and the cruise line. So, we will continue to cruise RCI, Celebrity, HAL, Princess, Carnival, NCL and Cunard. If we ever achieve DH's dream (every ship) we'll settle into our home port of Port Canaveral and cruise whoever is there.

We expect to reach our 100th cruise in 2010 and maybe we'll do a Regent, Silver Sea or Crystal for that. But, we won't do it because of the loyalty program. We'll do it because of timing, the itinerary, the price and the cruise line, not their loyalty program.

However, we do appreciate the perks!

We really enjoy the RCI product and have only strayed twice. We are looking at a New Years eve cruise out of LA and the Mariner pricing is extremly high. I just posted the info in a new thread. We will probably give Princess a try for New Years.
