Where to buy wine?

I am posting this for various locations/ports of call so apologies if you have seen it before.

We will be doing a 20 day cruise next April/May on HAL’s Noordam. We are then following this with a transatlantic crossing back to Europe.

We live in Spain and are used to buying wine at very reasonable prices. We accept that we will pay the cruise line’s prices at dinner but we are looking for something more reasonably priced to drink in our cabin or on our balcony. We will be on board for 33 days so it would get quite expensive at ship’s prices.

Can anyone give me any information where in Martinique we can buy a couple of bottles of wine. Could you also give me some idea what is an average price for a reasonable bottle of white wine – something like a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio.

Thank you in advance.

You are on the last cruise of the season, and I am on the first cruise of the season:D.

Looking at the map from the last time we were there (2006), there is a grocery store on the corner of Rue Ernest Deproge and Rue Francois Arago. Looks like there is a pharmacy across the street. Up the street is the indoor market.

After we come back in November I will post again to update you.

If you're looking for wine while in Fort Lauderdale, try Total Wine. They have a website, so you can shop ahead of time, get an idea of their offerings and prices. We usually buy our wine there before our cruises embark.

Hi English in Spain,

I promised I'd update you when we got back...

I'm afraid I don't have much to report. We took the ferry to Point du Bout. When we got back it was raining, so we just headed to the ship.

When we were onboard, many there suggested that Sint Maarten was a good place to buy alcohol. You may want to consider trying there first for good prices.

Except for the rain, we did enjoy our day at Martinique. Our 20 day cruise was wonderful. We hope you have as much fun as we did-

AC
