Help needed for cruise

Hope someone can give us ideas for a cruise in Jan 2010. We are an Australian couple, need to be in San Francisco from 15 to 19 January and would like to take a cruise whilst in the states. Open to all suggestions as it is an opportunity for us for once not to have to ad the airfares from Australia to the US to board a cruise as we usually have to do(if that makes sense). Pref 7 to 11 days would be best suited. Ideas appreciated

Sapphire Princess does the Mexican Riviera 7-days from Los Angeles, departing 23 Jan.

If you want to do the Caribbean out of Ft Lauderdale there are many choices, but it's about 2900 miles & 8-9 hours' flying one-way from SFO.

We agree, the Sapphire Princess would be a good choice (we sailed on her twice in Feb....nice ship....gay friendly), but you might want to consider a 15 day Hawaii cruise departing San Diego, Ca. on Jan 21 on the Zaandam. The flight time from S.F. is less than 1 1/2 hours and the fare on Vigin America is CHEAP.

Oops, that was "Virgin" America.

You still might want to reconsider a Hawaii cruise on the Zaandam. First, the cruise does NOT end in Hawaii. It is round trip San Diego and the air fare for both flights is less than $100 pp........bringing you back to S.F. for your eventual flight home. If you go on a Mexico cruise out of L.A. you still need to fly round trip S.F. and you won't get that cheap air fare. L.A. flights will be much more expensive. Think about it!

Side note: Last month we hosted a new friend from Melbourne who was going on his very first cruise (14 day Alaska) and now he's HOOKED. He's a driver on one of your city trains. Also, we have close friends in Sydney and Newcastle (big time cruiser).....loooooove Aussies!!!

There seems to be more cruises out of San Diego than out of Los Angeles around that time.

Thanks for that just noticed a 8 night from san diego on carnival spirt which might work a treat and the price of a suite or penthouse is very very cheap on the carnival website but because we do not have a US address do not seem to be able to book online. My travel agent in Aust wants to charge an extra $1023pp US to book here in Aus.mmmmm going to see if there is a way around it on the net some how as this one would suit great

cheers and thanks for the help
