Nutbunch Posted June 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2009 We'll have a car, are there any scenic parks with picnic tables where we could eat lunch with the gorgeous scenery?
dandro Posted June 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2009 There's a park area right where the ships dock, which is kind of nice. You can always bring a picnic lunch to Mendenhall Glacier, I did notice some tables there, also. The Glacier Gardens also has picnic tables. Have fun! PennyAgain Posted June 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2009 A picnic at Mendenhall Glacier might provide bears for table mates. Not sure I would do it. In any case when picnicing in Alaska be careful and keep food in tight containers and/or eat it quickly. Don't leave scraps around and don't feed the animals. My old Dad used to say that bears really love bacon and smoked meats of all sorts. I would avoid those.
