YFancyface Posted June 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Fill in the blank: I thought my S&SC would be _______, but OMG, it was ______! Going on my first cruise and just wondering who has been surprised when it was time to pay the bill! Hey, it could be because it was less! I can just imagine that it's easy to rack up a small fortune!
BethyAnn Posted June 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2009 That is how we would fill in blanks! Our total at disembarks was drumroll please............$1063! We guessed at about $600 but were just a lil off LOL. We only got 2 8/10 pics then there was about $50 in duty free liquor and $300 in casino the rest was excursion, drinks (alot) even tho we brought rum runners and a few cigars blah blah blah! So yup be careful it adds up FAST! Also forgot to add the tip for 4 of us
bucky7680 Posted June 23, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2009 I check my balance daily. We always double the price of the cruise as being the total cost.
Jsme Posted June 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Sometimes I am surprised because it is so much and a few times was surprised because it was less than I had thought.
aggieastrosfan Posted June 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2009 What I thought it would be? Not sure. But I didn't expect to see over $1700 for a 4-day cruise. casino :o
Colorado Kat Posted June 23, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 23, 2009 You can check your S&S account on your television set daily. Makes for a bit of peace of mind. It uses the folio number from your card. Kathy
chachi Posted June 23, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 23, 2009 My last cruise was only a 3 day, and I was surprised to see that my bill was only $97. My sister, who was on her first cruise, was surprised to find a $380 bill. The casino, pictures, and spa add up quickly. We had prepaid our tips, so this is not included. amina516 Posted June 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 23, 2009 My first (and only, as of yet) cruise, we checked our balance mid cruise..it was about $350!!! I was like "*****! This is my honeymoon, I have a right to spend as much as I possibly can!!" Then we squeezed another $400 in spa tx and drinks in the next 3.5 days for a total of $800 something. It was fun spending all I could. Lol.

DocF Posted June 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 23, 2009 I am never surprised as I look at the folio for the Sign and Sail card each day. You can do that via the interactive television in your cabin. Doc
WhansaMi Posted June 23, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 23, 2009 My hubby won't let me see the S&S account. I tend to be the more frugal one in the family, and start stressing if I see the numbers. I'll see if I can get the info out of him, but since we are leaving in a couple of days, and he's not going to want me all weirded out, I don't know if I will be able to get him to spill. We are a good match -- he forces me to have fun, and I keep him from getting TOO out of hand... although, this reminds me of a discussion we were having a few minutes ago. rather than hijack your thread, I'll start my own. Bases5 Posted June 23, 2009 #12 Share Posted June 23, 2009 It depends if I use it for the casino But I have done that $1700.00 for 4 days also. I have also done $500 for a week. It vary's so much. did I pre pay tip's did I pre pay specialty restraints and shore excursion. I do agree about checking your account.

2snorkel/cruisers Posted June 23, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 23, 2009 We put cash on our S&S card and check it daily. No surprises at the end of the cruise and no where near $1700. I would have jumped over board if my bill was that much!! If we paid $600 for the cruise, we put $600 on the account. Usually get $ back at the end:D. Whew!! $1700!!!

tiggerman101 Posted June 23, 2009 #20 Share Posted June 23, 2009 I prepay my tips and any excursions I take through Carnival. Our Victory bill was $56. I was pretty surprised it was so low. We don't drink, but that was still really low. I guess it had to do with a port everyday and not being on the ship much. My 5 day Fascination cruise last week was $300, but $225 of that was a cabana rental.
megnsamsgracie Posted June 23, 2009 #21 Share Posted June 23, 2009 Oh man.... My 4n Navigator... thought around $500... it was almost $900!! Damn casino hit me hard :(
gcaskew Posted June 23, 2009 #22 Share Posted June 23, 2009 We do a cash deposit of $100 a day for as long as the cruise is, plus tips and then check it every other day. I am on vacation and don't want to stress out about every drink or buying a picture BUT I also dont want to stress out the week after trying to pay for a car payment :D By using the cash deposit I keep a firm hand on how much I spend. It's like going to Vegas and saying I will gamble with $xxx a day and when it's gone its gone...
BBigfoot613 Posted June 23, 2009 #23 Share Posted June 23, 2009 I don't like stressing over the money aspect either but at the same time I don't try to be on a shopping spree the whole cruise. I was pleasently surprised on our second cruise that our S&S was only about 200 (half was smokes and a sweatshirt) and our tips were prepaid. I got to experience relief and a shopping spree on our first cruise however. We had about 850 in OBC on our first cruise. I'm not a big spender and don't feel the need to by a bunch of souveniers. After 4 1/2 days we had only used about 250 of it (part of it was tips for 3). I had made an inquiry at the pursars and found out it was all non refundable even though I was told otherwise before we left. In less then 24 hours we spent the other 600 with only 100 being donated to the casino! I was relieved that it wasn't just wasted but was sad to see it go LOL! So for a new cruiser it can be as little or as big as you want it to be. To be safe I like to bring my casino money in cash. when it's gone I'm done. If you do alot of shopping or drinking or spa packages it can add up fast. Others have mentioned about going to pursars to check balance if you can't access it on the TV. I just call the pursars desk and they tell me how much is remaining (I use cash instead of CC).
