Location of Car Rental

We would like to rent a car. The only address I can find is Carretera A, Chankanab k.m 4.5. It is really just across the street from the piers? Avis?

Don't want to -have-to walk far w/ two children. I need a good street map.

Hmmm, your information is sketchy. What ship are you on? From that we can determine your pier, which might be Puerta Maya. Costa Maya is a place on the mainland. A great map of Cozumel is available at

We are arriving on the Costa Altantica. It think the pier will be Puerto Maya. Thank you. Avis just says its' located at the port?

There is an Avis rental at the International pier, which is next door to the Puerta Maya pier. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the point where you get off the ship to the Avis office. Shouldn't be too bad.

This is going to be an adventure for us; we always have gone w/ tours or hired a van driver. Hopefully it will be fun. I love to shop? What would recommend? Thank you for responding

Personally I wouldn't bother with a rental car if you are going to be mostly shopping. Hop in a cab and head to Cinco Soles. It's a large store housed in a converted Spanish style mansion. Each room has a different type of tiem for sale. There's jewelry (lots of silver), glassware, ceramics, paper maiche, t-shirts, clothing boutique, furniture, pewter, tequila and other liquors, and lots more. They buy in large quantity so their prices are fair. Everything has a price tage so there is no haggling here. If you want more shopping, there are plenty more stores within the next 5 blocks. Actually plenty within the next block.

Cinco Soles is right downtown, on the north end. It will be a $6 cab ride from your pier, for up to 4 passengers.
