Single Cruiser Posted June 29, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2009 OV2 is only having a minor re-fit. The captain on my last cruise on her a few weeks back said they had an inspection and she was fit. And she is a very inefficient ship any extra spend would defeat the object of moving her down to Australia. They only refurbished her (all the public lounges and most cabins) in 2007 when she came over from Aida. OV1 however is due a major service since her last major outfitting back in 2003 she has had only a couple of routine maintenance dry docks. Kiwi_cruiser Posted July 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 3, 2009 OV2 has a dodgy generator, which I hope gets fixed in dry dock
Single Cruiser Posted July 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 3, 2009 OV2 has a dodgy generator, which I hope gets fixed in dry dock Yep. It can't reach it's top speed at the moment, it's restricted to about 18-19knots. The Electricity failed when in port at Aruba earlier this year, on the transAtlantic crossing they missed the stop in Madeira. On my cruise we were late a couple of hours into Cyprus. Since then each week one or more delays or missed stops have been attributed to engine problems. I figure its a major problem and they are just patching it until its service downtime in dry dock! But other than that for a 20yr old she's in good condition!
