Will arrive on the Zuiderdam on Boxing Day-Dec 26. We have reserved a car and are long time BVI vacationers- only been to STT in transit. We would like to tour the island and visit a quiet out of the way beach- and we dont have time to discover it onour own. any suggestions for a driving tour route and beach? We are not interested in shopping and have a long day in port and would like to fill the day> Thank you in advance>

Hello Naxos,

What are your hours on island? Do you want just one beach stop or do you want to beach hop.... how about Mountain Top, Drakes Seat, Bluebeards and other sites - any interest in seeing them? Any lunch needs/wants?

Thanks fort he quick response. We will have most of the daylight hours- 8 or 9 am - 5 or 6PM. We have never been to STT as I said- so i would not like to miss something special and we could do 2 beaches- but would like to avoid crowds if possible. Initially we were thinking about going tto the Ritz C and using the public beach there- but I am not sure that is aparticularly nice beach- we would like a quiet beach with good scenery and could do another one with services- BUT NO JET SKIS or noisy craft. Not that we are picky- but we are!

Iappreciate your offer. Maybe a trip to the top of the mountain and then.... where? Is the north side scenic?

Hello,

how about:

Assuming you are picking up the car in Havensight, head east along 30. This will take you through the east end of the island to get to Ritz Carlton (there are two beaches there, you can walk between them via a cement walkway). 30 goes all the way basically, but turns into 32, at the end of 32 you turn right up 322 to get to Ritz. Spend maybe 1 1/2 to -2 hours there. Then head back the way you came, stopping at Secret Harbor Beach for lunch at Blue Moon Cafe (its about 5 minutes from Ritz, will be on your left). Its a nice beach, the restaurant is beachside. Then leave there and head back to the intersection where 32 ended, now you turn right unto 38 which will take you through Red Hook, past Sapphire Beach, past residential areas. 38 eventuarlly goes up a small hill and at the top it continues down however it also joins 42, which is a right turn - go that way toward the northside of the island. Stay on 42 and you will pass residential areas, a school, mahogony run golf course... At the end of 42 turn left onto 35 which is a gradual uphill road, at the top there is an intersection, turn right onto 40... about 30 seconds later you will be at Drakes Seat, pull over and take pictures. From there continue on 40 to four corners and then turn onto 33 toward Mountain Top. There are signs for Mountain Top - head there, park, go inside and look around, have a drink and look at the view.

If you have a lot of time left: Then return to four corners and take 33 in the opposite direction heading west along Crown Mountain Rd. Follow 33 until 301 turning onto it and then turn left onto 30 shortly thereafter. Follow 30, stop at Brewers Bay (its an off the beaten path beach but close to the road so easy to spot). There are food vans there if you want to buy a soda or try a a pate (a local food, a dough pocket filled with meat, saltfish, conch... varies) Return to Havensight through downtown, following 30 all the way to Havensight. Allow sufficient time to make it through downtown traffic which is bumper to bumper around 4:15-5pm.

If you don't have a lot of time, continue on 33 away from four corners toward Elizabeth. 33 meets 35 that takes you into town then to Havensight via 30. Again keep traffic in mind. If you get back to Havensight with time to spare, drive up to Paradise Point and get a bushwacker, take pictures and then drive back down to return the car.
