If you do a search of this board you will find tons of info on Capri (much of it posted by moi). As to the funicular (it is not a cable car), you will arrive on Capri by boat at the small village or Marina Grande. You simply walk off the pier, turn left, and in a few yards you will see the funicular entrance on your right.

Perhaps the OP meant the ski-lift type cable car at Anacapri?

 

Actually, the ride from Anacapri up to the top of Mt Solara is not a real cable car, but rather an open single seat chairlift (you just sit in a chair with your feet hanging). We think this ride is the best bargain in Italy and love the trip. However, for anyone who is afraid of heights they would be better off staying far away from this ride.

I plan to go up in the chair lift with my eyes shut, and then walk back down.
