rparisi Posted December 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2004 When I was on the Mariner in November 2003, there was a lot of chatter on board about the height of the bathtubs off the floor (too high) and the low ceilings (too low for a tall person.) The rumor was that when the ship went into dry dock, the tubs would be changed. Anyone know anything about this?
donaldo Posted December 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2004 If you go to the following link; http://www.luxurycruisetalk.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php and search ' bathrooms on Mariner' you will find a lot of info re this subject.
DocDesdin Posted December 20, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 20, 2004 I believe the Mariner just came out of drydock and a number of cabins had their tubs replaced with walk-in showers.
cruisinsince75 Posted December 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2004 That is true. In our recent magazine, they mentioned that they had changed the baths to oversized showers on a number of the cabins. Don

avalon1025 Posted December 21, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2004 Just off Mariner yesterday, after the drydock, ship looks great (except bad art-auction art in the stair wells). Had a tub and at 5"11 just grazed the ceiling when taking a shower. They were still working on many cabins during out cruise. Overall great ship, but needs an art consult! Bad embarcation and my cabin stewardess was a bit tacky (she removed everything from the cabin the afternoon before we docked, expect that on Carnival not RSSC). I had to call down to the front office for a pen as she took that too (had to fill out their comment card!). Just says :"get off our ship" Entertainment was great, ships atrium needs some elegant pizzaz on the upper decks (looks like a big balnk brown wall ) Overall, looking forward to a longer sailing inthe furute. louanddave Posted December 21, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 21, 2004 I agree with the cabin service from last weekend's cruise on the Mariner. Our cabin attendant did not make up the room on the 3rd day at all, and then the last morning, was knocking on the door at 735am to clean the room. I realize that they have to get the cabins ready for the next sailing but we asked for 10 more minutes as we were just about to leave and she then wanted to know if she could just come in and strip the bed. Other than that, it was a great cruise and the dining was the best I have ever had on any cruise.
hvsteve1 Posted December 28, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 28, 2004 We're going to be on the Mariner in June and the tub/shower was an issue with us. Is there info anywhere on which cabins/classes were done? One poster gave a webs address, most of which was blacked out.
jhp Posted December 28, 2004 #9 Share Posted December 28, 2004 cruise critic does not permit the posting of links to other message boards. Since you don't permit e-mails to be sent to you, I guess you will have to ask your TA to get this information directly from RSSC to insure getting one of the refitted bathrooms. Ngaire Posted December 29, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2004 Actually there are more than that now. They also did the cabins ending in 2 on the port side in categories E and up. I dont have the list with me at home but they doubled the number of cabins they refitted.
Dreps Posted December 29, 2004 #12 Share Posted December 29, 2004 Ngaire, Do you know the general timetable? Will they be completely refitted by the time we are on our Sydney-Auckland cruise in November? Eugene
