Red Hook to Newark - Cab or Car Service or Princess Transfer?

Recommended Posts

This is our first trip to New York. We are staying on the Upper West Side prior to the cruise; is it better to take a car service or cab to get to Red Hook and on our return to go directly to EWR is it better ie. faster, easier to pick up a cab at the pier; book a car service; or take a Princess Transfer - our plane leaves at 1:45 pm.

Thanks in advance for advice:).

I think you are better off taking a cab from the Red Hook Cruise Terminal. The last time we debarked the QM2 in Red Hook we had a car meet us and frankly I wish we had opted for a cab instead. There were loads of cabs waiting to take passengers, I don't think you'll have a problem finding a cab.

Have a great cruise.

use a local car service. A yellow cab IS required to take you to EWR. The toll is meter plus $15.00(for them to come back to NY empty) and roundtrip tolls which also should be about $15.00 PLUS tip. Should run around $80-90. A local car service will do it for about $60.00 try Arecibo 7187836465...which you call as you as getting off. If you want to have one there for you call Cadman Car service but they will charge slightly more.

From the upper west side same thing. A cab should run about $35-40 and that is what most local car services will charge. BUT have the directions with you.

From the upper west side....west side highway to 12th avenue to west st to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. Take the Hamilton avenue exit just past the tolls and make 2 quick lefts and follow the signs...non rush hour it should take about 1/2 an hour.

You could probably grab a cab just make sure you ask beforehand about the pricing.

If you ask about the pricing you may get a non regular answer.

I posted the info above.

know before you get in. A car service is required to give you the amount when you call....
