alexkrn46 Posted December 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2004 Just returned from our AOS cruise, we enjoyed our C&A Platinum status. First of all, when we arrived at the pier at 2:30pm, there were thousands of people waiting in line in the hot sun. We got ushered right in ( after we showed our tickets) and on the ship in 15 minutes. We have a nice welcoming packet including a C&A pin , the coupons were much better than gold status. We went to the wine seminar FREE, attended a private C&A party for diamond and platinum members which had a private recitial with the senoir members of the crew. Debarking we went to a private lounge where we were served drinks and only second to get off after the Diamond members, we enjoyed our new status, Alex

snowshh Posted December 21, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2004 That sounds great! This will be our first cruise on Platinum status. I look forward to the new perks. We'll be on the Legend of the Seas Feb, 2005 and looking forward to it. I understand we also get robes to use during the cruise - I just love the perks! emmy Posted December 22, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2004 Does anyone know what happens when you are sailing with another couple that are not yet Platinum? Can they 'tag' along? I mean for emarkation and disembarkation. Sailing on Jewel in April first time as Platinum and will be travelling with sister and DH. Any chance they would let them come along? Just curious if anyone has an answer. Emmy
alexkrn46 Posted December 22, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted December 22, 2004 During check in they checked our tickets for platinum status. On the way out only diamond and platinum members were allowed off the ship early but their companions could join them in the lounge, alex

thompson4131 Posted December 22, 2004 #11 Share Posted December 22, 2004 Emmy: As long as they are listed on your ticket (sharing your same cabin & flying with you), my experience has been that they can check in with you. Noni Posted December 22, 2004 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2004 This will be our first cruise as Platinum members. Looking forward to the answers here because in 17 days we are sailing the Explorer with a group of friends and relatives. It would be nice if we could all embark through the platinum level lounge. suekay Posted December 22, 2004 #13 Share Posted December 22, 2004 Just returned from our first cruise at Platinum level (Navigator) We were first to check in when the desks open, then waited in a private lounge with view of the ship. I think EVERYBODY helped themselves to free cookies as they waited ! We were first to be called for embarkation, but as non-US citizens we were then overtaken by non- Platinum passengers as we queued to be fingerprinted - even this only delayed us by about 5 minutes, then we were onboard taking photos before the hoards arrived Although I was the only Platinum level member there were robes for all of us in the cabin - much appreciated We didn't bother attending the special brunch as we didn't want to leave the sun, but did go to one of the two gold level repeaters parties (too many returning guests for one) The open bar was a great improvement on some ships - can't remember which - which offer a limited selection of drinks My status was not checked as we entered the Disembarkation lounge reserved for Platinum/Diamond level, so my 2 friends came in with me. The only downside of this lounge was that announcements were not made and many of us missed our colour being called. Eventually a crew member came in and told us which tags had already been called. I don't know if this is the usual practice, but it was not very popular. We took our coupons to the casino - did not need to buy tokens for the slots - I was just given the $4 in cash (gold members given $2) These perks were much appreciated .....my friend is now on a mission to get to Platinum, while I'm working on Diamond!!:D
emmy Posted December 22, 2004 #14 Share Posted December 22, 2004 Thanks for the information Sue.... also interested to read that they are indeed fingerprinting in Miami...we sail out of FLL in April on Jewel but so far I do not think they are doing that there yet according to recent cruisers on the Jewel. gfleischha Posted December 23, 2004 #16 Share Posted December 23, 2004 We too are platinum members, we are on the radiance in February. My daughter and he fiance are cruising with us but are under there own reservation number with there own room. I contacted RCCL using the special 800 number for C&A members and was assured that our travel companions would board the ship and disembark with us. njoyndride Posted January 7, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 7, 2005 Just received this reply from RCCL :) : Thank you for your inquiry. Your traveling companions that do not have priority boarding will be able to join your group for priority embarkation. Thank you for choosing Royal Caribbean International. Honey's Gal Posted January 7, 2005 #19 Share Posted January 7, 2005 Most times, if you have a couple travelling with you they will be allowed to join you. Only once were we not allowed our travelling companions, was recently on the Serenade. There simply was not enough room in the area to accomodate ALL the Platinum and Diamond members and travelling companions. all other times, no problem
