Everglades Airboat Upon Disembarking?

We are arriving in Miami on the Sun on 1/15/05. Currently have a rental car from Alamo to drive to Ft. Lauderdale for a 7:40 pm flight. I know that the ship offers a tour of the Everglades by airboat, then transport ot FLL. I would anticipate arriving at FLL very early for the flight if I take the ship's tour. By renting a car, the cost is less and I have the opportunity to visit the beach for the afternoon.

Is it possible to drive the rental car to an airboat tour? Looking for suggestions.

Would I also have time to drive to beach in Ft. Lauderdale before the flight if I take advantage of an airboat tour?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Piece of cake. An hour and a half from Port of Miami. http://www.evergladesholidaypark.com/

From Holiday Park to Ft Lauderdale beach, half an hour.

Better yet, check out Hollywood Beach its just south of Port Everglades. Nicer beach, not as crowded.
