Hello to all,

So glad to be a new member and appreciate any suggestions offered.

There are 8 adults and 4 grandchildren. Ages 5-6-6-9 All boys

We are well traveled, but not up to date on cruising. Looking at June 2010.

We did Disney last month for a week, so not considering the Disney Cruise line.

Thinking about Alaska. The facilities for children sound wonderful. but all the information is overwhelming.

If we cruise from Seattle and the ship stops in Vancouver, BC, do all need passports? The 8 adults already have them, but are the 4 children required to have them?

Thank you for your input.:)

Welcome to CC.

Another good place to post is the Alaska port threads.

The good is Disney doesn't sail Alaska and likely will never so don't need to worry about getting tempted by that.

Get passports, you have lots of time. For kids they are good for 5 years more then worth getting them. Even if you go to Caribbean you will need them to as well as traveling anywhere outside the USA.

RCL probably has one of the more extensive children programs and is also refined enough to satisfy the older adults. We've never sailed them as their routes never intersected our desire. They are pricier then Carnival.

I've sailed Princess twice and really like them for their elegance, value. I think they have a good program, likely not as extensive as RCL but more then good enough IMHO. If dressing up isn't your style NCL is also worth considering.

Happy planning

Royal Caribbean does have a good kids program. I do like Princess but if it's about kids - I think RCL wins.

Effective June 1, 2009, all U.S. citizens are now required to present a passport book, passport card, or WHTI-compliant document when entering the United States.

Please Note: Children under age 16 will be able to continue crossing land and sea borders using only a U.S. birth certificate (or other form of U.S. citizenship such as a naturalization certificate.). The original birth certificate or a copy may be used. See the Department of Homeland Security's Ready, Set.. Go! for more information on the changing travel requirements.
