lenbro Posted July 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I've read that there is WiFi in the Voyager cabins. Are you also able to use a blackberry in your cabin and are the rates the same as a laptop? Thanks, Len
Paint Horse Posted July 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2009 If you mean to connect to the LAN to then connect to the Internet, sure. An 802.11 device is an 802.11 device as far as the network is concerned. Be aware that if you use the cellular data service the rate is different from the normal service. cruiseej Posted July 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Len, I'm not a Blackberry user, but the answer would depend on what you can control about how it gets signals. If you can tell it not to look for a cell phone tower and to only use WiFi, and you can use a regular web browser to log in, then you can use it anywhere on the ship. If it's going to pull its signal via cell tower, then be prepared for very, very high rates. -- Eric

Shorex Posted July 13, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Check out response #32 to the question "What is the cheapest way to make phone calls?" on the "Ask a cruise question" board and be VERY careful with how you use a blackberry. I know of similar cases.
ILoveMyDogs Posted July 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I used the WiFi internet connection in my cabin with my IPhone on Voyager. The rates were the same as a lap- top WiFI internet connection.
