hybrn8 Posted July 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2009 Considering a cruise on the Maasdam. Good fare for cabin on Lower Promenade deck but the category is in the bos of the ship. A little concerned that we could end up under theater/showroom. Would this be bothersome/noisy? How about if we are in cabin in stern which could possibly be over restaurant. Thanks for everyones' input as we want to make decision sooner than later. By the way, we have been on the Zaandam, Prisendam and Oosterdam - would HAL give us better cabins than they would to a first time passenger? the2ofus Posted July 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2009 The cabins in the bow will most likely have noise from the theater above you. The problem will not just be during the shows but also at any time that rehearsals are going on. Have been in a far forward LP cabin on the Volendam and found that the bass reverberations and dance rehearsals came through the most. The aft LP cabins under the Dining room are likely to be much quieter during the late evening and night. Among other reasons, there is carpeting on the floor in the Dining room and the traffic mostly occurs during the hours you will be awake, out and about. Do avoid the LP cabins on starboard side forward of the rear stairs. These cabins are right under the parts of the kitchen that are very busy in the very early morning. The thumping and bumping can be a real bother unless you are hard of hearing or a very heavy sleeper. The first six or so cabins on LP starboard from the atrium back should be fairly quiet at night.
