NewCruiser10 Posted July 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2009 We will be on the Miracle docking in St.Thomas. We are a group of 9 people who would like to go snorkeling at Trunk Bay in St. Johns. I was wondering if there are private tour operators that would pick us up at the cruise ship and take us to Trunk Bay by boat. Any thoughts or recommendations? lanabanana Posted July 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2009 I think many of the 6-pack day sails go to Trunk Bay for snorkeling. Perhaps you could contact a couple of those? For 9 people, you would need two boats, but they would sail together and you could snorkel together. We have personally used Rumbaba twice and Jolly Mon once. We loved them both. The Islander Posted September 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2009 Many of the charters that pick up at the cruise dock go to Buck Island, a small island off the south side of St. Thomas... south side being where the ships dock. A couple of the larger ones that are ship excursions go to St. John. Most of the charters that sail out of the east end of St. Thomas go to St. John (and also the BVI). You can take a taxi from Havensight or Crown Bay (on the south side) to the East End (usually American Yacht Harbor Marina in Red Hook or Sapphire Marina at Sapphire Resort). For a group of 9 you can either to two boats that sail tandem or you can go with a slightly bigger boat that can accomodate your whole group. Some boats can accomodate 12-18 passengers and some can accommodate larger groups like 30 people, for the latter your group would like be on the boat with a couple other small groups and couples. Try a search for some options and contact them for number of passengers and if they go to St. John - Trunk Bay: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=st.+thomas+activities+day+charters&aq=0&oq=st.+thomas+activities+%2B+day+c&aqi=g1. --Islander
