hotelplusportal.com and Sheraton OSJ

Can anyone provide me with their personal experience with this site? Is it legit? I am looking to stay at Sheraton OSJ for one night precuise in September. Sheraton's website is pricing 189 plus tax. Hotelplusportal.com is offering rooms at the same hotel for 90 plus tax (total $113). I realize the heavy cancellation fee.

I know I can go through Priceline but I am not guaranteed the Sheraton and I have never used Priceline. Would I be able to get it substantially cheaper through Priceline? I am looking at betterbetting.com and the other tip websites.

We aren't looking for anything grand...pretty much the walk across the street to our ship is very appealing for us.

Thanks.

I booked a stay at the Sheraton at $90 a night for 11/13/09 and 11/14/09 through this website. I was a little nervous, too, because the price was so low and I could pick the hotel, versus Hotwire and Priceline where you are bidding on the unknown. Before I paid my Visa bill, I emailed the hotel directly and asked them to verify that they showed a reservation for me at the price I paid. I received an email reply right back confirming that my reservation was there and was paid in full. I printed that email to take with me on the trip. So you could do the same before paying the credit card bill. Good luck!

ILgirl...I did notice that the reservation is for one person. Additional adults in the room are $25/person. Did you notice that? Did it mention anything in your email confirmation as to the number of people?

And thank you for replying.

If you want the Sheraton in Old San Juan using Hotwire, look for a 3 star hotel, clik on see all amenities.

It will list

Casino

Fitness center

pool

restaurants

business center

high speed internet access

tennis nearby

This will be the Sheraton Old San Juan

We just booked this for our post cruise for $95 total 110.77 for 2 people

Thanks Welldone60. Looks like for my night Hotwire doesn't have it. I will keep checking as you helped me choose in the right direction.

Trying to figure out excursions and reading the bidding for travel and better bidding websites for the hotel, I am a bit overwhelmed. So, thank you.

and after using the advice of all of you....

this morning I booked OSJ Sheraton on Hotwire and then called in the price rate from the website listed for a double the difference refund :D

I thought I'd pay it forward.......you can also book directly through Sheraton if you are more comfortable that way and get a 110% diff back.

The website will let you book 2 people at the same price by the way :)

I love my cruise critic friends and money saving advice!

Just wanted to say Thanks and that your info is spot on. I checked hotwire for our 1 night post cruise and that 3* with "tennis nearby" was there for $95, I booked it and sure enough it's the Sheraton. Thanks so much. We couldn't book it pre cruise since we only needed 1 Saturday night but our friends got us all La Concha for around $105 bid on Priceline so we're quite happy. We saved hundreds just on these 2 nights and I do love a good deal.

Thanks again for posting the exact ammenities and stars to look for to get the Sheraton.

Hey

I can't give you specific instructions because I wasn't the one who did it but I know she bid on 4* and started at $95, that's what she told me. But, I'm pretty sure there is more than 1 4* so there is no guarantee that you'll get La Concha, in fact most people in the last few weeks seem to have been getting the Intercontinental. That's actually what she wanted to get but struck out so she said she lowered her bid to 4* and that's when it was accepted by La Concha.

Not sure if I helped much but maybe someone else will have more of an idea.

As for the Sheraton, we got it on hotwire by comparing the ammenities. The 3* and "tennis nearby" is what made us sure it was the Sheraton.

Good luck

Madeth313: I did make the reservation on the hotelplusportal website for two persons and it was still $90. Total is $231.75 = 2 nights at $90 each plus taxes/fees of $51.75. I ran into the same thing you did with Hotwire. I knew which ameneties spelled out the Sheraton but it was not available for the nights we needed. Good luck!

Thanks Ilgirl. I must have been a little confused at what I read on the confirmation page. Going to book it...after all its a better price than any where else (except maybe Priceline...and I do not want to take that chance).

Have a great trip!!
