BHA Girl

Recommended Posts

Urgent! In the process of booking the Spirit for next June, around Greece. Booking a (porthole) outside cabin, which deck is best and is the centre the best place. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You

Hi, if you post this on the Thomson forum, you'll probably get more people responding and it's best to get all shades of opinion.

The Spirit and Celebration are identical layout and your choice of cabin really does depend on what you value. The basic cabins on all decks are virtually the same - some are parallel twins, others are L-shape and some are doubles. The deck plan will show you which is which.

If you want more space, bath, sitting area etc then you can pay for an upgrade for a better appointed cabin. But many would say as you're only in your cabin to sleep, wash and change, there's not much point in paying a lot more for an up-grade. Some would say it's well worth it.

We go for basic (inside!!) on the grounds that we get to go more often that way! There is absolutely nothing wrong with the cabins on deck 1/2 - they are the same as the basic ones on 3/4 - only you can decide whether you want to pay more to go on a higher deck. It is usually said that there is less movement on the lower decks and mid-ships if that helps.

If you want to be sure where your cabin will be you can pay a pre-booking charge. Mid-ships, deck 2 would be perfectly ok for me - but this may not be the opinion of others.

We're on this trip in May - did it this year and it's brill!! :)
