How early to MIA?

We are staying at the Hampton Inn blue Lagoon after our cruise. Our flight the next morning departs at 6:35am.

 

The hotel shuttle doesn't start running until 5am and they say it's a 5 minute ride to the airport. Should we get a taxi earlier or will arriving at 515 for a 630 flight be enough time?

 

We've never flown in/out of Miami, and help would be great.

We flew in and out of MIA our last cruise and 2 hours was barely enough time for us to get processed through. We had late flights, not sure if the early flights are any better.

I have flown out of MIA about 40 times over the past two years. I arrive one hour to 1.25 hours before each flight and, even though I typically check luggage, I have never come close to missing a flight.
