pat66 Posted July 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2009 We are going to stay one night pre-cruise at Hotel Olimpia in Piazza Roma in Venice in November. What is the easiest way to get to the hotel from the airport (with luggage for a 12 day cruise? My husband and I are in our 70's and don't rel;ish walking around with three suitcases and 2 carry-ons. Sugestions?

suekay Posted July 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2009 I agree that a taxi would be the best option. I travelled with my 79 year old Mum on the airport bus to Piazzale Roma......but she had me to lug the cases on and off the bus:)
waterbug1 Posted July 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Hi Pat66, The taxi is a good idea. An alternative would be to take the ATVO airport fly bus. It costs 3 euro and has luggage compartments under the bus where the driver will stow your luggage. It will take you directly to Piazzale Roma, which is a short distance from the Olimpia. Here is the link to the website. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice_airport_buses.htm

waterbug1 Posted July 21, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2009 You may find this helpful. It is taken from the Hotel Olimpia website: Ship / Airplane The shuttle from cruise ships and those run by ATVO from Venice's "Marco Polo" airport and Treviso's "Canova" airport stop in Piazzale Roma, less than 100 meters from Hotel Olimpia. Alternatively, you can take a water taxi and land right at the hotel or, take the ACTV bus no. 5 from Venice's Airport to reach Piazzale Roma. The Hotel Olimpia website is http://www.hotel-olimpia.com/location.htm. it will provide you with more information.
