ranchette Posted July 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2009 What do you think a good airfare would be from JFK to Vancouver on Cathay. Right now the fare is about $525.ooPP . We're not going until June 2010 is it too soon to book or is this a good fare?

I would say it's good / close to bottom for air fare on Cathay Pacific - it would be worth the extra to fly on them as opposed to domestic carriers IMO. Of the three airlines that fly NYC -> Vancouver non-stop, CX(Cathay) is the nicest. However, right now (for 2009 tickets), AC(Air Canada) and CO(Continental) from EWR->YVR have had recent fare wards, with the price in the high 200s for a return ticket, which is a real steal. CX rarely discount the price below the 500ish you're currently seeing. Another option to consider is AS(Alaska) from EWR-SEA-YVR. By routing via AS/QX and Seattle, you get added flexability that a lot of people want to visit Victoria, so you can buy an open jaw ticket (for essentially the same price) into Vancouver and out of Victoria EWR-SEA-YVR YYJ-SEA-EWR
