Anyone just been on the Sensation????

I have been on the Sensation. It's an older ship but does have a center Atrium. The food was on par with the rest of the Carnival ships. I don't believe they have the special supper club, but since I don't go to them it could have hidden somewhere. Some of the public rooms were alittle small but still not bad since the amount of passengers was also less than the larger ships. You could definately tell it is a older ship, however it was well maintained. The staff seemed to have alot of pride in their ship and the service reflected it. I would not hesitate to go again on the Sensation! :o

I hope all of you have a wonderful time.

Just got off on Sunday.

If you like 8o's music, the show on the first night is good. I think it was called "Far From Over".

She has been refurbished recently and is in good shape. One issue is that the new pool leaks into the casino. If you play blackjack (I do) plan to get dripped on at several of the tables. It was kinda annoying and the casino staff just joked about it whenever anyone complained.

Did not make it to the comedy shows (too busy playing blackjack).

Food was good as usual and the staff was friendly.

That's a BIG problem... It' hard to believe it's the pool...

That is what the Casino Staff blamed it on, and the new pool is directly above where we were sitting.

We had fun with it. One guy said "at least it's not a toilet" then another chimed in "there is probably more pee in the pool water than the toilet":D

A friend of ours told us they no longer provide ice tea free at the coffee/juice tables on deck and in the buffet. Is that true on Sensation????

Thanks

There was complimentary iced tea and juice on the lido deck last week. :)

We sailed on the Sensation at the end of last summer. (not sure if the ship has had a face lift since then-I do know it got a new pool/play area) As a family, we were very disappointed. Had that been our first cruise experience, we probably would not have a desire to ever cruise again. We had sailed before on the Conquest and with RC Majesty of the Seas. The Sensation is old and worn. Yes, it's "kept up" well, but not a luxery or classy feel at all. My teenagers referred to it as the Barney boat. Around every corner was the feeling you were trapped in the 80's. Our bathroom reminded me of a Motel 6. The sink was chipped and then touched up in several places with paint that did not even match the color of the sink. The televisions must be 20 years old. I will say the food was up to par with the other ships. Can't complain about that or service in the restaurants. The biggest difference we noticed on this sailing was a total lack of information and friendly customer service. Compared to our other cruises where the details for the day were either told to you by the cruise host on loud speakers in your room as well as detailed in the daily written papers, Sensation lacked information. There seemed to be "missing information" and never anyone really willing to help you. We were told by one worker we did not need our passports when we got off the ship, just our sail card. After waiting in the line to disembarc we were told we had to have them, so had to go back to the room, get them and then wait again in line. None of this was covered in the daily papers or "morning talk" We came across several rude personel. I remember we got up and left one of the games because the guy who was running the game was so apethetic and the heavy smoking going on around us. It was in a packed lounge where they allowed people to smoke while this "family game" was going on. Basically, I would never sail that ship again or recommend it.

Here's a hint if your family wants a quiet, unpacked place to play cards-try the theater. During the day it's seldom used and the round tables in the back with curved benches was the perfect place to have a good card game. There was one other family in there doing the same, but the place is huge, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Now, about the Bahama's!!:) We made a reservation at the Comfort Suites and got the Atlantis package by making that reservation.(of course we never used the room) Atlantis was everything we had hoped for and more. The highlight of our trip!! We spent time on the beautiful beaches and more time on the lazy river, slides, etc. Highly recommended-especially for families with kids. We are returning next summer (on a different ship) I have not checked to see if you can still make reservations at the Comfort Suites to get the Atlantis package. I hope so because it was much cheaper that way! Enjoy your trip--we sorta looked at the ship as only our vehicle to get to the Bahamas. Instead of getting there in a Cadilac, we took a an old Ford. Regardless, it still got us to where we wanted to go!

new pool? The new waterworks park is in the back of the ship. The pool that has always been on the ship sits above the casino. We were on the sensation in june and thought the ship looked great. I think alot of the cut backs have hurt this ship. The menu in the dining room had alot of the same stuff every night. It was either steak or chicken. No filet instead a flat iron steak. No lamb chops or duck like previously. No sea food night like previously. I found that the food in the buffet was par at best. The 80s show was great since I grew up in the 80s and could relate to it all. There is only one show time for the magician/ comedian so get there before the bingo session or you won't get a seat.

I just returned from a 3 day on Sensation on July 12th. I had been on Sensation before the Evolutions of Fun upgrades and there is no comparing! The ship looks really great (except for the purple elevators that remain!). Our room had all new cabinets (no more pepto pink decor) and a new bathroom and a flatscreen TV. The public spaces have been upgraded with nice seating (including all new deck chairs...no more plastic loungers) and lots of granite tables. Kids will love the Waterworks on the back of the ship. There is put put golf (has been there a couple years) also to keep the families busy. Also a new "serenity" deck for adults only with comfy padded loungers.

I really liked it for a nice short getaway.

  • 2 months later...

They did serve Lobster on Formal night - can't remember about the Prime Rib if it was a choice as I don't like Prime Rib. We were just on in August. I can't even remember if this time it was served with Shrimp like it was in January.

I was on in April for my first cruise and I loved it. Food was good all around. The only two complaints that I had was that there is only 1 pool and its very small and the Casino was just a big smoke cloud. Couldn't really enjoy playing in there at all. Below is a link to some pictures i took of my trip on the ship and to Atlantis
