Bontongrl Posted July 23, 2009 Author #126 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I absolutely loved Fins and Flippers !!! We wanted to have a nice relaxing beach day and do a little snorkeling and that's exactly what we did. This island is also an animal sanctuary, and they have birds, and sea lions, monkeys and ocelots. They have a vet there full time who takes care of the animals and he seems to do a great job !! When we first got there, some of the staff were working with training the seals, so we watched for a while. Its a beautiful island, pristine as can be. I was so impressed. They even rake the sand everywhere. I don't think I've ever seen a cleaner lil island and beach area. lol
Bontongrl Posted July 23, 2009 Author #127 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Wow, Debbie. It looks like you threw yourself into your first (in a long time) cruise with a passion, which beats the heck out of being bored. ;) It sure does, PunkiC,,,,,;) If you're going to do it, do it with a passion, right ? :D:)
Bontongrl Posted July 23, 2009 Author #128 Share Posted July 23, 2009 They also have a bar which serves drinks and food. We ordered the Drink of the Day, a Coco Loco and it was delicious and only $5. And we also got some shrimp and conch ceviche and it was delicious too,,, For 3 drinks and the food, our bill was $29 and well worth it. The guys did some snorkeling, which normally would have been good here, but because of the storm that had come in the night before, it was still pretty windy and the water was choppy, so the snorkeling wasn't the best but they still saw some cool fish. Us gals, well, we did what we do best.... laying around soaking up the sun lol
trini_ras Posted July 23, 2009 #129 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Don't tell me your pesky job got in the way of our review :), anyways I must say you look absolutly amazing. I agree with a earlier poster and will say your DH did not have to enter the casino to win anything, the jackpot was already his, :D

Rare MistyRo76 Posted July 23, 2009 #131 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Great review. My wife and I will be on the ship October 25th. One question did you happen to see the cost of cigaretts or what the cost of there specials were? Thanks. Hey Sun Prairie - we are also going to be on the Oct. 25th sailing. We have a pretty good roll call going over on the Valor Roll Call board. Come on over and check it out! Misty

AryMay Posted July 23, 2009 #133 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I absolutely loved Fins and Flippers !!! We wanted to have a nice relaxing beach day and do a little snorkeling and that's exactly what we did. Great review...entertaining and full of great information! Were sand fleas a problem when you were in Roatan? We have only been there once. DH was on a beach for about 10 minutes between his scuba dives and ended up covered with bites on his legs. We have discussed going back for a land vacation since the diving is so great...but being a "non-diver" I don't want to lay on the beach for a week being "flea bait". HiAryMay, We had heard that sand fleas here could be a problem, so we had brought bug spray with us and put it on before we ever left the ship. I don't know if it was the bug spray, but I never had a problem with the bugs and I spent a lot of time at the edge of the water and in the sand, so I guess it did. I'd recommend bug spray for sure !! :) I wish I looked as good as you do in a bikini! ;) Thanks perfect stranger !! Bontongrl Posted July 23, 2009 Author #140 Share Posted July 23, 2009 A couple of quick posts, before I'm off to work again !! After the beach, we headed for the pool for a bit to get the salt water off. It's a beautiful pool,,,, the entire area is really nice. and then we went exploring around the island and checking out the animals. They have an animal sanctuary here and have quite a few animals,, Sea lions,,, ocelots,,, monkeys, and lots of birds. The vet does a tour around 3 in the afternoon. We didn't do the tour, but wandered around by ourselves checking out the animals. I'm sure if you have kids they would probably love the vet's tour and he'll let you hold some of the birds too !! We are taking a cruise with a group of ten in September and you have inspired me to do a photolog. It will be our good friends very first cruise ever so we are really excited for them. katskritter Posted July 23, 2009 #145 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I was just wondering if you booked Fins and Flippers through Carnival or a private source. It looks beautiful and I may be interested in doing this with my hubby. I looked for it on the excursions link on carnivals website and couldn't find it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and keep the awesome review coming. I keep checking back to see what has been added. I look forward to reading and seeing more.:)
