No Nightlife on the Legend??????

I've read several posts where it was mentioned that the age group on the Legend was a slightly older crowd, probably due to the itenerary and the 8 day length. Is this everyone's experience? No offense to seniors however, a lot of seniors are not interested in partying the nights away. I have a group of about 30 - couples, singles and children, many are 20 and 30 somethings who will be looking forward to partying (day and night) next year when we cruise on the Legend on November 25th (day after Thanksgiving). Do we have a chance? I would love to hear your experience...

We were on the Legend last April and are really looking forward to her New Years Eve cruise. There is always something going on and the disco gets really going before midnight. And there are other lounges! But with 30 people you can start your own party!

I just got off the Legend 12/22/04 and this was a cruise to talk about for sure! I am 56, and single and my daughter is 32, married. We are young at heart and like to have fun. I was concerned when I booked this cruise I would be too old, what a laugh!

As we boarded we were shocked at the age of the passengers - 60% were OVER 65! I have never seen so many wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs, walkers and a guide dog, in my life! There were two HUGE groups of seniors that came from some retirement community in Ft. Lauderdale, about 490 of them, plus 49 from Senior something. As a result they dropped like flies! This was a very boring cruise. The entertainment was not very entertaining. We were detoured three times for passenger emergencies - a total of 5 people either had heart attacks, epileptic seizures or something that was serious enough they made a trip to Cozumel to drop someone off; causing us to be 5 hours late into Belize cancelling all kinds of tours. Then we had to turn around after we left Panama and go back (3 hours out), then 4 hours later we have to make another detour to Grand Cayman to drop off a fourth person. THEN a few hours after that another passenger dropped. It was unbelievable!

We were traveling at Mach 5 speed 4 of the 7 0r 8 nights we cruised making for a very unleisurely cruise. They ship was going 24-25 knots and there was a LOT of Vibration because of the speed.

The only place that seemed to have any action was Sachmo's lounge where they had lively music and sing along every night. The people in there seemed to be having a great time.

I would not recommend this ship for a young age group AT ALL!!!

Hi! I sailed on the Legend for a week out of NY in Oct 2002. There were 9 of us - age range - early 30's. I felt there was a nice crowd in each bar that we went to. We went to different ones each night. Also sailed on the Legend out of NY - on a cruise to nowhere and felt the same - there was a nice crowd the 2 nights in the bars. The only thing I can say - is to make your own fun with your friends and enjoy!!!

We sailed on the Legend Jan 2003 and had a blast!

We were with a large group from another cruise site- but there were people of all ages- 20-60----

We met a great couple from Wisc and still are friends.

There was plenty of night life- the piano bar and the disco were hopping.

The itin is wonderful----and so are the 8 days-

In Barbados, there is an excursion through the ship called the party pirate ship or something like that---it is an all day party with the rum flowing- you anchor by a cove and can walk the plank or do the rope swing thing---a live band and everyone was dancing- a lot of young people were on this excursion and also 40 somethings (our age)

In fact a young guy I was dancing with picked me up and hugged me after the dance and cracked 2 ribs! Now he was a big guy---the ship looks just like an authentic old pirate ship and the crew are dressed as pirates---also when we anchored u could take a little boat to the beach- but we just stayed onm the ship and used the rope swing to get in the water. It was a great time.

I also read the reviews about the lack of night life- it may depend on the time of year, but seniors were in the minority when we went.

I would sail on the Legend again in a heartbeat- she's a beautiful ship!

Just an an fyi- we were in bed about 230am everynight--so that's enough partying for me.

Hope this helps you with your decision. :)

Oh My! You all are scaring me I guess I didn't do enough research beofre I booked this cruise for my group. I hope we have a different experience than what I'm hearing because my group looks to me to pick an exciting cruise every othe year...Oh My!

..not to worry... your group will have a great time... there are always enough "similar" people out of 2,000+ people.... :)

We had a great time - it all depends on the attitude you carry on board with you!

And the rates ($) for that sailing are excellent!!! (like getting a day FREE!)

Springersgirl, I was on the same cruise and agree that the situation was deplorable. This had to be an exception and not the rule. Despite the cranky & rudeness of the ole farts, we had a great time. We surrounded ourselves with friends from cruise critic and made the best of the situation. I thought the nightlife was great. The geritol crowd was either in bed or the casino during those hours and we found a host of enjoyable things to do. Piano bar was nice and cozy, Sachmo's was lively and energetic and met some great people in the Dream Team bar. True, a lot of delays but hey, I was on vacation and not gonna let anything rain on my parade. I hope you give Carnival another chance--this situation was truely beyond their control. I must commend the staff of the legend for maintaining smiles and excellent service while putting up with some of these unhappy seniors.

DH and I were on the Legend in Feb. 2004. We were her during President's week. Sure there were a lot of older folks but I wouldn't say they rolled up the sidewalks at 10pm.

My DH and I love to dance and found many veues for dancing music. The disco wasn't packed at midnight but there were plenty of people.

on the new years eve cruise in 2002 on the Legend the comedians were aking people to go to the disco after the shows, I didnt understand that as it had a decent crowd everynight not too big where you were elbow to elbow. guess they wanted to sell more drinks to people not dancing.
