You can take a taxi from the pier all the way or else take the taxi to the Piraeus Metro Station a few minutes ride away and then take the Metro to Syntagma. CintiPam Posted July 24, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2009 You can take a taxi from the pier all the way or else take the taxi to the Piraeus Metro Station a few minutes ride away and then take the Metro to Syntagma. Just to expand a bit, it's about a 20-25 minute walk to the metro, or take the 843 bus as well. It is difficult to find a taxi driver willing to just go to the metro stop; if so, he will charge you 10 Euros minimum. The green line metro begins in Piraeus; take it 25 minutes to Monastiraki stop, then switch to the blue line to Syntagma Square. Or take a taxi directly from the cruiseport to Syntagma for about 20 Euros. If taking a taxi anywhere in Athens, agree with the driver on the price before you (and any luggage) get in. He will not want to use the meter for this seven-mile trip, which should take about 20 minutes.
Bowie MeMe Posted July 24, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 24, 2009 Can you just get a taxi (or two) after getting off the Nautica -- is there a taxi stand with many cabs? Is it necessary to pre-book (and most ask for pre pay). We would not choose to do metro/bus for our party of 4 because of mobility issues. What do you think? Just wait and flag a cab? Pre-book/pay? Other ideas?

We were among the last disembarking in September and the taxi line was long enough that we probably waited 20 minutes for a taxi. That was fine by me, I would much rather that, than pre-book and pay much more. But the day before, on our shipboard overnight in Athens, when people got off the ship at all different times, absolutely no lines for the taxis.
