Princess Players Club?

Thanks for the clarification WeBeGone.

For some reason I didn't get the impression that the cruise was free; but I suppose that the message was not very clear by the previous discussion.

Mike:)

Mike, I agree, I in no way thought the offer was to cruise for free. Just that there were a few perks associated with it if you booked the cruise.

The cruise for the Players club is not full. That is not why they sent the letter. I called yesterday and she gave me all sorts of choices for accomodation. She said the letter was sent because so many people complained about misleading advertising.

I agree, it would have been a fabulous deal....IF, BIG IF .....I lived within driving distance of the port. Book the cheapest cabin for $349 and get $500 in slot credits with free drinks in the casino plus the other goodies..... great deal! (of course an inside cabin wouldn't have made me feel like much of a VIP)!

The CRUISE is not full, however there are no more spaces in the Players Club group - therefore no more casino credits.

I also got the first letter and offer and pitched it. Then I got a Sorry Charley, it's full. Today, I got the offer again.

It does say that (We reserved a state room for you and a guest), but it doesn't say that it's for free. The $250 casino credit is only for the Players Club Member listed in the offer, not the guest. It's not a bad deal, if you wanted to cruise then or lived near the port. You didn't really think they meant that the cruise was FREE, did you?

Well, I guess some of did and some of us didn't. (think it was free)

It would have been handy if they had put "stateroom charges" in the list of things members were responsible for. And don't tell me they didn't deliberately leave that out!

I have been receiving those letters as well. I'm not sure how I ever even got them. I never signed up for the player's club. Actually, I don't even want to belong. Is there any way to get off of their mailing list and out of the player's club?

First, They list a number 1-888-772-6697 to call for the reservation, I'm sure that you could opt out by calling that number.

Second, where do you live in the 'Burgh? That's my home town, too. I am definitely Home Town Proud.

I am not a member of Player's Club. When I cruise, I do play in the casino....mostly craps and a bit of blackjack. I always tip the dealers, and although I am not a whale, I do put a decent amount in action. I always get comped drinks and anything else I want from the casino (t-shirts, hats, etc.).

From what I can tell, this is quite an anomoly. What cruise line is this? On how many of your cruises has this occurred? Were you related to the pit boss?

Alice, thanks for the info. Actually, I don't even like putting my cruise card into the machines. I don't think it's anyone's business how much I spend. I never do it at any other casino I visit either.

And, we live north of Pittsburgh near Saxonburg. Do you know where that is? I am born and raised in Pittsburgh. Grew up in Oakmont and Penn Hills. Actually moved away twice, but always came back. I, like you, am Home Town proud.

This has happened on several Princess cruises, and no, I'm not related to the pit boss or anyone else at Princess. I can't say whether it's because I'm nice and I talk to the casino workers, if it's because I give them the type of action that they like, or simply because I'm a nice tipper. And since I don't drink alcohol when I'm gambling, I typically just request bottled water.

I received the invite as well. I didn't think it was free, but i was interested. I called and was told that it was filled. I asked how is that? When i just got the invite? she told me that the groupe was filled but since i have the letter they would accomidate. The room is not free, but when i can get ba catagory caribe balcony, mid ship, for around $1600, for 7 nights that was i deal i could not refuse. Checked the booking to find out my dicount was $1720. Along with a few freebees, and my platinum status, i thought it was pretty good. Any time i can get a 7 night carribian cruise for about $1600 and change, ba catagory, i'm goin!

I also got the letter and was confused by the intent. Since the fine print did sound like you would be responsible for everything other than the cruise i.e. taxes, port charges, etc, I gave them a call. I straight out asked the rep if the offer was for a complimentary cruise or was I reading the letter incorrectly. The Players Club Rep that I spoke with said I wasn't reading the letter incorrectly. It was for a free cruise, however the response had been so overwhelming to the offer there were no free cabins left. The letter I received the next day reiterated the overwhelming response to the cruise...blah, blah, blah. I believe someone made a huge mistake and they are covering their behinds. I'm curious who the "overwhelming response" was and if they really did get the free cabins as I was told. BTW, I have dropped enough cash in their casinos to deserve a free cruise. :p

I received the sorry letter early last week but tossed it because I never received the July 15th letter it referred to... figured it was someone's screw-up. Today I received the July 15th letter. Whatever. According to what you're all saying here, Players Club really needs to figure out what they're doing.

I see this was not a uniform offer. The casino credits were varied. Some got an offer for $250. I got $500 and others got as much as $750.

Tikipeople is the only one so far who reports that PPC said the cruise was free. Anyone else RSVP to the offer and get a PPC rep who said it was free?

After reading this thread, I was still wondering, does it do any good to join the Players Club, other than getting an invite to a "casino" cruise?

Not that I have seen, but you never know what the future might hold for the players club. It hasn't been around on Princess as long as others on different lines, so I am still holding out hope that they have some perks to go along with it someday for those that actually spend a lot of time in the casino. ;)

Thank you... and good idea:cool:
