jen09 Posted July 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2009 Hi guys, We are going on our first cruise in October on the FOS, we would love to visit Maho beach to see the planes landing (other half would get great kick out of this! :)) Can anybody tell me what is the easiest way to get to Maho without going on an organised tour excursion.. Do you get a taxi or water taxi and how much is this usually from the ship pier?? Also is there somewhere else en route which is worth a look, any really nice beach to relax. Hopefully somebody will be able to help me.. Thanks a mill Jenx
Smileeface Posted July 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2009 Hi! I just wrote a whole review of how to take the city bus to Maho Beach & the Boardwalk as well. Here's the link: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1031489
Spurs Fans Posted July 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2009 Maho Beach is (obviously) near the airport. It is not possible to take a water taxi there. Take a regular taxi that you will find at the port when you get off the ship. Not sure of the cost. Should not be more than $8 or so per person each way. We were there last week and it is a cool place to visit.
The Big Booper Posted July 28, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2009 The big jets tend to come in early afternoon.. Maho Beach by itself is a big nothing, the planes are what make it worth visiting.
jen09 Posted July 29, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Thanks for your replies, they have been very helpfull. Just another question, is there any nice exotic (relaxing) beach to go too enroute to Maho, would love to relax on a nice sandy beach for a few hours after the excitement of seeing the planes in Maho, preferably looking for the name of a nice beach on the same route?? Thanks Jenx

The top beach is Orient but it is on the other side of the island, unless you have a rental car, not that practical.
