poss Posted July 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Prefer seafood or Asian. Prefer quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Hoping to find something great in easy walking distance of Fairmont Waterfront. Thanks!
Fore67 Posted July 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Maybe Cardero's which is about a 10 minute walk to the west of the Fairmont. Nice specials, on the water, outside deck option (as it's scorching hot at the moment here). Depends on the night, but can be real quiet and great for a romantic evening or boisterous and full of energy, still great for a wonderful evening. jp2001 Posted July 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2009 For a good pub like meal, take the seabus that will get you to North Vancouver (right by Canada Place, in the seabus/skytrain station). There is a restaurant in the market and from what I remember it was good and not too expensive. My aunt used to work there but she works elsewhere now. The seabus is only a few bucks and you will get a great view of Vancouver Skyline (very nice at night).
orchid72 Posted July 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2009 Prefer seafood or Asian. Prefer quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Hoping to find something great in easy walking distance of Fairmont Waterfront. Thanks! Really depends on what you consider "easy walking distance". Cardero's as previously suggested, is a good choice, but it is actually more a 15-20 minute walk west of the Fairmont, depending on how fast you walk. BUT, it can be a very nice and beautiful walk along the Coal Harbour seawall. Kirin is a Chinese seafood restaurant on Alberni between Bute and Thurlow, and it is about a 10-minute walk from your hotel. If you want moderately-priced, okay food that is about a 5-minute walk south of your hotel, you can always head out to Cactus Club on Burrard. They serve some seafood, but it is not a seafood restaurant. Also, a 5 minute walk east of your hotel is Steamworks (more of a pub) or Steamworks transcontinental (more of a restaurant) - both serve seafood, and have a relaxed atmosphere, but not really seafood restaurants per se. Across from your hotel is Aqua Riva, but I would not classify it as "moderately-priced". For cheap & good Vietnamese lunch (salad rolls, vietnamese subs, Pho, etc) try Joyeaux Cafe - a hole in the wall - on Howe between Pender and Dunsmuir (about 5 minutes from your hotel). There are many more restaurants in downtown, but finding good and moderately-priced restaurants are hard to come by in that immediate area. You have to walk towards Robson Street about 10 minutes) and/or Denman Street (about 20 minutes) for that.
