kimmie1526 Posted July 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2009 I know that this question has been asked before, but I was wondering if we should take travelers checks, and if we can cash them on the Inspiration? Thanks Kim :):D
*Mach* Posted July 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2009 You can take Traveler's Checks and cash them on the ship at Guest Services (the Purser's Desk...). A note of caution, however... You'll need to sign them in the presence of the purser or they'll hassle you a bunch!!! So, just leave 'em unsigned 'til you need 'em... just keep 'em tucked away in your cabin safe... :)

mrsbean1990 Posted July 29, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2009 I'm glad someone asked this question. I've been meaning to ask it myself. We'll be in New Orleans for two days ahead of the cruise, and I really don't want to walk around with a bunch of cash in NOLA. How much can they cash at one time? parrotthead Posted July 29, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2009 We always take TravelersCheques. You must sign them at the bank when you buy them and then again in at the counter, where you cash or use them. We have never had a problem. (and they never expire)
jayscore Posted July 29, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2009 I've used TC's in the past, but they seem to be getting harder to find and use in most cases. Sign of the times?

Sign of the times? I think a definite sign of the times. Plastic (and chip-imbedded cards) are the predominant purchasing medium any more. Kinda like that V*sa TV commercial at a coffee/bakery type business with the assembly line of customers all swiping their plastic card at the checkout - some poor slob wants to pay with cash and it stops the assembly line, to the eye-rolling chagrin () of the other customers. trock Posted July 29, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2009 Just adding my 2c We had several Amex Travelers Checks we received as gifts and we could not cash them at the Pursors Desk or in the Casino (on Miracle) They were not signed in advance... I knew that was a no no! We used them to eat at Margaritaville in Grand Turk!

I knew that was a no no! We used them to eat at Margaritaville in Grand Turk! I haven't used TC's in a while but they always had two signature lines - one that you signed immediately when you purchased them and the other when you cashed/spent them. Which signature was not done in advance? I would be shocked if they expected both signatures on the TC outside of their presence. The chance for fraud in that case is huge.
