scottbee Posted August 8, 2009 Author #26 Share Posted August 8, 2009 Something is bad wrong with the weather when it is hotter in Vancouver BC than in Texas! Do be dismayed, it's threatening to drizzle again in Vancouver and temps are now back in the high teens (18C/65F right now)
verdl Posted August 10, 2009 #27 Share Posted August 10, 2009 I was in the Interior of the Province last week, and a friend reported seeing 49 Degrees on his thremometor! It was literally hot enough to melt candles! 49 is hot? is that C or F? In Houston we'd love 49F now!!
Loann Posted August 10, 2009 #28 Share Posted August 10, 2009 49C is 120F. You do not want to see that kind of heat and I'm glad we did not get it here on the East Coast of Canada!
scottbee Posted August 10, 2009 Author #29 Share Posted August 10, 2009 49 is hot? is that C or F? In Houston we'd love 49F now!! In every country in the world except one, 49 degrees means 49C. it's only the United States that hasn't gone metric. And then you'll probably find that most scientific things already have gone metric.
Putterdude Posted August 10, 2009 #30 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Actually there are 2 other countries besides the USA that have not adpoted the metric system and they are Liberia, Myanmar (Burma). In Canada while the metric system was adopted some years ago and all levels of government use it however much business is conducted using the imperial system of weights and measures and many of us still think of temperatures in terms of *f...although I suspect it will eventually change as we old diehards pass on. Urban trekker Posted August 10, 2009 #31 Share Posted August 10, 2009 "very happy that I could hide in the shade of a very large cedar tree as the players came by. " and not doubt some with some liquid refreshments close at hand. Cheers Dennis
