ckekjhaze Posted August 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2009 Our family of five had a great time even though the weather was a little chilly and foggy We were offered an upgrade to a penthouse suite- #7307 and had VIP embark and debark so we were in our car driving home by 8am this morning. I'm already unpacked and laundry is going. Sailing day I had a drink in my hand and the kids were in the pool by noon, so I knew it was going to be a great vacation This was our first cruise so we didn't know what to expect and my husband still said he prefers the all-inclusives in the Caribbean. I will definitely cruise again, maybe just take my 3 daughters and mother. I am going to book the next one again leaving from New York (so convenient for us since we live in CT) but go to the Caribbean. We always found something fun to do and someone interesting to talk to. I'll post a more detailed review later, I have to get groceries, but I'll hit a few highlights positive: Jorge the CD was a lot of fun. We had a great time in the ports- Saint John was so nice and relaxed, we did our own thing and shopped and walked around talking to people. Halifax was great too- we went to the Titannic cemetery and maritime museum, had fish and chips with malt vinegar, and even had fun running back to the ship in the pouring rain. Security getting back on the ship joked that if we had been getting on a plane we would have exceeded the liquid allotment because we were drenched :) Camp Carnival did a great job and my kids also made friends that they spent hours with. I loved the food and already miss the warm chocolate melting cake. Our waitstaff were fantastic- Carlton and Wilder- the kids loved them a little bit negative: we smelled sewage the first day or so and the water slide only opened for a short time on one day, many activities had to be moved around because of winds and fog amusing: couldn't find the Paris dining room for breakfast and tea the first sea day- actually we ate in the London late seating which was great OK more later! Kathy HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO ckekjhaze: Glad you had a good time. The cruise line can't help the weather. Carnival has really good food. Three lines I have sailed with have good food. The Paris dining room is in the back of the ship while the London dining room is more midship. I have sailed on the Triumph twice and ate in both dining rooms. I am going on my third voyage on the Triumph in a couple of months. New York City is a very convenient port to go from, of course I live here. However, if you go to the Carribbean June, July, and August is not a good time to go. Plus the higher fares. Have you been to Bermuda yet? Have you been to Baa Haabaa? Great places to go. I've been there via a cruise ship. Wherever you choose to go next, have a good time.

April is during the rainy season and June, July, and August it gets crowded. However, be careful of the former Gitmo detainees there.
ckekjhaze Posted August 2, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted August 2, 2009 yeah that was him in the hairy chest contest- we thought he was overqualified :) actually thankful it all grew back- he survived colon cancer and lost all his hair and then was hit by a car while jogging and got his leg all smashed up so we are lucky he is still here May? hmm well we have to work around school schedules so that leaves spring break in Apr or the summer for us- maybe June when school lets out
