pattiemax Posted May 11, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2004 It's six days after my cruise and I'm still dizzy. On board it wasn't too bad, we did have some rocky days but it didn't bother me, but since getting off I'm reeling! Anyone else experience this? Thanks! TonyaJune Posted May 11, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I have had this experience after cruising. It usually lasts about 4 to 5 days for me. You should be feeling better soon. UNTIL I SET SAIL ON THE JEWEL OF THE SEAS
kc320 Posted May 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I have the same problem after the shorter cruises. I have used an over the counter sinus medicine and it seems to clear up in a day or so. For some reason I don't have a problem with the longer cruises. Halloween on the Serenade
pcur Posted May 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I've experienced this when I took dramanine, but not with bonine. I think the sinus medicine for a day or two after is a good idea! Peggy - RCI since 1973

cathykb Posted May 11, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2004 You will come back down to earth...just try to be patient. I suffered for 5 - 8 days after my first few cruises. Now, I feel no "after-effects", so more cruising is the best cure!
jnnifer01 Posted May 11, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 11, 2004 My DH and I have had that after both of our cruises- feels like we're rocking side to side. I thought it was funny last time, but this time we were both feeling yucky after the rough Mexican Riviera cruise, so I continued to take Bonine the day after. nlptes Posted May 11, 2004 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I had it after my 7-night cruise, but not after my two 4-night. Mine took about a week before it was totally gone. Try to stay away from small enlosed areas (i.e. shower ) as much as possible... that's when mine was the worst. cathykb "so more cruising is the best cure!" sure sounds like the answer to me !! KruzinKiwi Posted May 11, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 11, 2004 We just got off Navigator on Saturday (May 8) and both of us still feel a little dizzy at times. This is usual and it seems to fade after a few days. KruzinKiwi

Choozin Croozin Posted May 11, 2004 #17 Share Posted May 11, 2004 I actually "rocked" for about 8 weeks from the last cruise I took. (11 years ago) I actually went to med center and everything and there was nothing they could do. Finally it went away. Funny thing is, I get this when I go up and down in elevators several times in a short period of time too. Good luck, it will end eventually! usavvy2 Posted May 12, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 12, 2004 you might be suffering from Mal de debarquement that web site says that Mal de Debarquement Syndrome (or MDDS) is an imbalance or rocking sensation that occurs after prolonged exposure to motion (most commonly after a sea cruise or a long airplane flight). The good news is that it does go away. The bad news is that it could take some folks as long as 6-12 months - or longer! They think the patch prevents it and speculate that valium type drugs and physical therapy help cure it. Seems women in their 40s get it more than other groups. Oh, that's just great All I know is it's NOT fun. not taking vacations but collecting experiences - usavvy2 Royal Princess 9/04/04 - "Europe or Bust!" everyotheryear Posted May 12, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 12, 2004 After a week cruise I will have the rocking for 2 or 3 weeks. My dh will have it for only a couple of days and the couple we travel with don't get it at all. It slowly goes away and seems to be at its worst when I am in the grocery store or if I look down and up quickly. The good news is that it goes away. So you can plan you next cruise. PRCruiser Posted May 12, 2004 #22 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Is the only thing that I don't like about cruising.... And the worse thing is feeling awful while on the ports of call and then back to normal once back on board. But feeling dizzy after the cruise have an advantage: when somebody asks you "what's wrong with you?" you can just rub it in that you are feeling dizzy because YOU JUST CAME BACK FROM A CRUISE! MindyBrum Posted May 12, 2004 #23 Share Posted May 12, 2004 First time cruiser question: What is the "patch" vs. bonine? Where do we get it and what is best? Is it safe for all ages, kids? Help and Thanks!
windward402@sbcglobal.net Posted May 12, 2004 #24 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Glad to know I am not the only suffering from being dizzy after the cruise. I just got back sunday from the carnival pride 7 day mexican riviera cruise and I am still feeling the affects. I was not sea sick nor do I feel sick, it is the constant dizziness that will hopefully go away soon. It is a very odd feeling. Had a wonderful time!!
