Day in Capri

Just back from the Gem and I had to rave about our perfect day in Capri!!It was magical! We pre booked a tour with Paolo from Gianni's boats. Where we were able to see all of Capri from the sea aboard a private comfortable boat. We saw other boats with large groups crammed in, sitting on hard wooden rows of chairs and later saw the prices and laughed! What a difference a little planning can make!

We walked the 5 minutes from the ship to the Molo Beverelo hydrofoil ticket office and purchased r/t tickets to Marina Grande on Capri. The ride was about a half hour, short and smooth. Espresso and sweets were available for sale.

Once off the hydrofoil we were met by Paolo's brother and father, Gianni and Gianni. They greeted us and took some pictures of our family---we were a group of 10.

The younger Gianni, was our tour guide and he spoke perfect English and gave us detailed commentary on the history and sights of Capri.

The tour was on a beautiful, comfortable boat---covered in lush terry cushions with pillows and partial shade--for the sun shy....otherwise plenty of tanning room. It was a private 2 hour tour where we circled the island at our leisure. We stopped to swim when we wanted to stop, and we saw everything on the itinerary:

THE GREEN CAVE… WHERE YOU CAN ALSO SWIM INSIDE---we did!

THE FARAGLIONI,

THE WHITE CAVE… WITH ITS MYSTERIOUS STALACTITES-You can swim inside--we did!

MARINA PICCOLA , CALA DEL RIO, THE LIGHTHOUSES, PUNTA CARENA, THE BABY BLUE GROTTO,

THE URCHIN ROCK, THE SAINTS CAVE, THE CORALS CAVE… AS A THROAT OF A WHALE

THE TURTLE ROCK. THE SAILORS CAVE, VILLA MALAPARTE, SIRENS ROCKS

BLUE GROTTO WHERE IF YOU WANT TO GO INTO, THERE IS A TICKET OF 10,50 € TO PAY AT THE BOAT OFFICE OUTSIDE THE CAVE--However we opted against it as there were long lines and since we paid E20 each for the tour...it seemed silly to spend the money on the grotto when we had been inside other caves and were anxious to tour AnaCapri.

During the tour, we drank Lemoncello and ate small snacks. The trip and Gianni were the hilight of our cruise. He spoke perfect English and after the boat tour guided us to a cafe for lunch. Then gave us a map and directions to tour the island!
