Is Villa Ephrussi worth it?

Opinions on Villa Ephrussi vs lingering around Cannes for the day? Also is it a reasonably easy walk from Beaulieu sur mer?

Beaulieu sur mer is about a mile from Villefranche if that is the question. Cannes to Beaulieu is a long 25 30 miles. Villa Ephrussi is about 1.5 to 2 miles from Villefranche

We did the walk from Villefranche and had no problem. I thought the visit was worthwhile and especially enjoyed the gardens. We then bused to Eze (also very easy) from the mansion.

The gardens at the Villa are spectacular. There are different themes in the gardens with beautiful flora and fauna. At the back of the main building every 10-20 minutes there is music with dancing fountains (think Bellagio in Las Vegas but on a smaller more elegant scale) that are choreographed to the music. It was a very memorable experience. I took an inexpensive bus from Villefranche last fall to get there. I am going to Cannes this fall and may go back to see it again.

We enjoyed it. The gardens far outshine the villa. And the views down to Villefrance, and your ship sitting in the harbor, are spectacular!

To answer this : it is a pleasant walk from Beaulieu to the Villa Ephrussi and Madame Rothschild's home and garden is spectacular. There is a liile cafe and if energetic you can walk on further to the very exclusive St Jean Cap Ferrat!

Our visit to Villa Ephrussi was absolutely wonderful! The 9 gardens are beautiful and are planted to bloom in every season. The views from this peninsula of Cap Ferrat are spectacular! Villefranche harbor on one side, Beaulieu on the other. If you enjoy visiting gardens set in stunning scenery, you will enjoy your time here.

 

For those who don't want to walk, Bus 81 connects Cap Ferrat to Villefranche, Nice and Beaulieu. Get off at the Passable stop and walk up the hill/entrance to Villa Ephrussi (clearly marked). (From Monaco, connect to Bus 81 from Bus 100 at Pont St Jean or other connection points). Even though I'd planned 2 Monaco port days previously, I'd never researched Cap Ferrat. Our visit on this trip was a spur of the moment decision and we were delighted to find this gem!
