Madrid Airport

I will be arriving at the Madrid airport for the first time and am wondering if it is difficult to get from terminal 1 to 2? I know they are connected, but it sounds like it can be quite a hike between the two. I have a flight arriving 90 minutes and usually arrives in terminal 2 (maybe terminal 1, I might have the terminals mixed up) with a connecting flight that seems to usually use terminal 1 (or possibly 2 as mentioned above). If I wasn't having to deal with customs I wouldn't worry.

Well, terminal 1 is fairly long, but allow 20 minutes to go from one to the other. No problem.

The main problem in Madrid Airport is usually the long time one has to wait to collect the luggage at the belts.

It depends on the flight and origin. Coming from the US means recently quick border procedures. Coming from South American, in any of these countries airline means that they are a lit bit more fussy with passengers.
