CruiseTour - Hotel info

We leave on 8/22 and have not gotten our hotel for Fairbanks yet.

We arrive on Thursday August 27, 2009 and nothing yet either. I thought I read it somewhere that three weeks before your arrival, they assign your hotel? I am in that window and have not heard anything yet.

I am on coral princess leaving sept 9 for the cruisetour and have not heard a thing yet, heard it was within 30 days, but hubby said within 21 days.

Someone else on our boat said they got their hotel when they got their package in the mail after final payment...our paperwork did not include that info. (we are at 30 days now approx)

When we did a Princess cruisetour in Alaska some years ago, they put us up at the Princess Lodge in Fairbanks, but Sophie Station and at least one other facility were also used for some of their passengers.

Next year we will be on an RCI cruisetour and we will be staying at the Wedgewood Resort in Fairbanks, the Grande Denali Lodge in Denali, Talkeetna Alaska Lodge in Talkeetna, and the Anchorage Marriott in Anchorage.

Princess used the Captain Cook Hotel in Anchorage and the Princess Lodge in Denali. We were quite happy with the lodging assignments and the overall quality of the tour, and are anxiously looking forward to next year's trip.:)

We got our complete itinerary including our lodging arrangements as soon as we booked next year's cruisetour with RCI. When we traveled with Princess we didn't get the information until a few months before we were scheduled to travel and when our final documents arrived they had changed our lodging arrangements in Fairbanks from Sophie Station to the Princess Lodge. We were not at all unhappy with the facilities on any of our stops on the land but having the information more than a year in advance gives us more time to focus on other components of the land tour.:)

The Princess website says they tell you 21 days before. Near as I can figure, it's 21 days prior to the ships sailing, not your arrival in AK (if you are going southbound). At least that's the way it worked for us. I got an e-mail at midnight on the 21 day prior to our departure of August 24, even though the cruisetour begins on the 20th. Others on my roll call heard that same day or the next day too.

All our Land Tour Hotels have been assigned with the exception of Fairbands. Our land cruise starts on Sept 3rd. We will be at the Captain Cook,(Anchorage) we are actually going on the 2nd, Denali Princess, Denali) Fairbanks? not sure but we are on the Delux Escorted Tour, so we might be at the Princess Lodge in Fairbanks, Dawson City, The Downtown Hotel, Copper River, Copper River Princess Lodge.

Has anyone been at The Downtown Hotel in Dawson City? I have looked at the reviews of this hotel and they are very Mixed. The best review was in 2006 and the worst was in May of 2009. So if anyone has stayed there please give me a heads up!

I have stayed at the Denali Princess Lodge before and it was wonderful. I really enjoyed it. I have also been at the Kenai Princess Lodge and Mt. Mckinley Princess Lodge. All of them were really great. I have never been to Copper River, Dawson City or Fairbanks, so this will be a new experience.

We set sail on the Sapphire Princess on Sept 12th from Whitter. The last time I was in Alaska was on the Dawn Princess. So it will be quite different going from a small ship to a very large one.

I can hardly wait!

Smiles........Kitty (Nan)
