BOOFER9 Posted December 28, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2004 I am going to Galveston for a cruise Jan.21 coming from Louisiana on I-10; my question is would it be quicker to take the Boliver ferry to Galvestion or go through Houston? Thanks in advance.
Ranger Posted December 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2004 I'd vote for the ferry, not only closer & quicker, but more fun (just watch for winter fog)
DannyMac Posted December 28, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2004 Yep! I would call the Texas Highway Dept because the road that runs along the coast was washed out several years ago and I am not sure if it was ever repaired. The area from Winnie to Beaumont took some heavy surf and waves during tropical storm Allison. I do know that you can exit of f I-10 at the Anahuac exit and go south to get to the coast road. Stevesan Posted December 28, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2004 It's apparently up and running, but expect long delays in heavy traffic and rough weather conditions. http://www.houstontranstar.org/ferrywaittimes/ For the ferry schedule, click on "ferry operations page", then scroll down to "operating schedule".
