Walk from San Diego Amtrak station to Ship?

Is it feasible to walk from San Diego Amtrak station to SD port?

I will not have a large suitcase, just a carry on with wheels.

 

Is it about 3 blocks away?

 

If not feasible, are there taxi cabs at Amtrak station?

no lots of traffic and I think it is much farther than 3 blocks. Take a taxi

Actually it's pretty easy. Here's a map. Santa Fe Station is the brown building to the right. Exit the station, walk down to Broadway, hang a right, cross the tracks, walk 2 blocks, hang another right, walk another block, you're there!

I've lived in San Diego my entire life and it is very easy to walk to the cruise terminal!

As other residents like me have already told you, it is an easy walk. You can see the cruise terminal from the AMTRAK station, so you can't go wrong:)

We walk it all the time, even if you had two rollers per person you could walk it no problem.

 

You can see the ship and thats all you need to motivate you to walk. Like a carrot in front of a Donkey

I did this last December. I live in Orange County, take bus to Irvine Amtrak. Take train to San Diego and then walked to ship. Cost about $20+ vs. parking at about 15+ dollars a day.

Does anyone know the name of that Station that is close for Amtrak? As I looked it up and there are 4 or 5 stops for San Diego. This sounds like what we will be doing.. comming from center of Calif.

It is the station marked SAN, not the Zoo, Balboa Park or anything else, just plain old San Diego.

 

I think it depends on the type of ticket you purchase, the AAA ticket is $34.20 round trip, per person. It makes the train a lot less of a savings for us, as our cruise is only 5 nights and we would need a taxi (for the night prior) and another to port in the morning.

 

If we were to take the train, it's completely walkable, but only if you have one bag to roll along. We did walk all the way there from a hotel near the Gaslamp Quarter and saw plenty of people walking towards the ship from the depot.

I can make it easy for you. The station in downtown San Diego is the LAST ONE for the AMTRAK. In San Diego County, there are 4 station stops (for AMTRAK). Oceanside, Solana Beach, Old Town Transit Center, and the final stop in downtown San Diego (the one across from the cruise ship terminal).

 

There are other stops along the route but they are used by other systems (North County Coaster, San Diego Trolley)

We have walked to train station with 2 large bags and two carry-ons that attached to the larger bag. No problem at all.
