ozzie6913 Posted August 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2009 Hello to all, My family and I will be on the island in Dec/Jan with an 11 month old. Any suggestions on what to do? We'd most like to be on the beach, but I don't know if there is a beach to walk to. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!
watchdiva Posted August 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Hi Ozzie - are you staying on the island or visiting from a cruise ship? If you can provide a little more info I'm sure that you'll get some answers.
ozzie6913 Posted August 18, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Sure, we will be visiting from a cruise ship. We are not positive about hanging out on a beach, but that seemes easiest with a baby. Thanks! :D
Rare crewsweeper Posted August 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2009 Ozzie, If you're on a Carnival ship in Dec/Jan, you most likely will wind up at their new facilties which are further away from Coxen Hole toward French Harbor. Not sure what beaches are up that way but most likely a long cab ride to anything. Most folks tend to go down to beaches in the West Bay or West End areas, a cab ride of 20 minutes or more from Coxen Hole. If you're in Coxen Hole, there is Fin and Flippers on an island. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the pier to the ferry dock. The beach isn't the pristine white sandy beaches you've seen in pictures and the ocean bottom there has a lot of coral so could be a bit rough on an 11 month old. However, they do have a pool, shade, food and there are animals to see there which may be entertaining for the little one.
