Well Done Fred! - Balmoral Classic Norway BL0913

We have just returned from the short Balmoral cruise to Norways fjords and wanted to remark on the great improvement we found in service levels on the ship. I think Fred must be raising their game in the light of recessions and credit crunches.

 

We cruised on Balmoral last year in the Caribean and found service in the bars and in the Palms Cafe at breakfast to be lacklustre and indifferent. This time our experience was much improved.

 

We also were assigned a table in the Spey restaurant - which was a lovely experience and certainly added lustre to the cruise for us.

 

Finally - the ship experienced some engine trouble which required the shutting down of one engine for repairs while at sea. All depts of the ship ( engineering especially) got the job done with great efficiency and worked to minimise the impact to the actual cruise events.

:(We went on this cruise to norway,and found the service very mediocre.this was our third cruise ,but our first on FO.We had got used to 24 hr dining and felt we were being rushed in the Palms,particularly at breakfast,and felt that 9.30 was a pretty early cut off time.The staff thought nothing of leaning across in front of you to clear the table,or in fact walking straight in front of you as you walked across the floor.The choice of food wasn't great either compared with Thomsons.

There was only one tea and coffee station open 24hrs,and a little bell was rung to herald an hour of free tea and coffee and cakes in the afternoon and rung again to signal the end! we found this pretty strange.

One good thing was free room service,although the menu was pretty restricted

We were hoping to use FO again as he sails from Liverpool,which would be really handy for us,so we were really disappointed.
