KruiseT Posted August 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2009 We just found out that our staterooms on the Crown Princess are RIGHT by the elevator. Has anyone stayed in a room that's extremely close to the elevator area? If so, was noise a factor?

However if your inside cabin shares a wall with one I would not reccomend it.
wizard-of-roz Posted August 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2009 My DH prefers cabins near elevators. He truly dislikes walking down the hallways on cruise ships. It never fails that there's always a Steward's cart or people walking opposite and there's never enough room.... We have NEVER been bothered by the elevator noise on any of our cruises. envy4u Posted August 19, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2009 How about elevators and backing on to the laundromat?
Cruisers from WA Posted August 19, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2009 How about elevators and backing on to the laundromat? The laundromats usually are closed and are locked at 10pm We like cabins by the elevators...if it is a bit noisy, which has only happen once for us, I just rolled a towel put it under the door....as there was a larger than normal gap under that cabin door. aseg Posted August 19, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2009 I've been on the Crown right across the main bank of elevators on the Caribe deck. No sound whatsoever from the elevators, only from guests complaining about the elevators(only if your cabin door is open). The cabins are all prefab modular units(everything except linens) and built off site and then slid by forklift into a hole cut into the side of the ship. The princess ships have little trouble with side to side noise, but sometimes are prone to noises top to bottom between decks. As a result avoid cabins beneath Horizon Courtand the Night Club. cruznliz Posted August 19, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2009 We were alarmed once to find our cabin shared a wall with the laundry but were amazed we never heard a thing. We've been close to elevators, but not like right in the doorway. Never a sound there either.;)
DeepWaterMariner Posted August 20, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2009 The room on our last cruises on the Emerald opened directly into the elevator lobby on Caribe deck...never hear a thing. Very convenient.
Treven Posted August 20, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Personally I think you have a pretty good location for your cabin; congradulations. I doubt if you'll be bothered by noise.
Colo Cruiser Posted August 20, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2009 The laundromats usually are closed and are locked at 10pm. The door sign says that but it does not always happen. :(
Toto2Kansas Posted August 20, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2009 We actually prefer staterooms close to the elevators. And to date, we have never heard any excess noise because of it. I am sure there won't be any problem at all. ;)
floatie Posted August 20, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Had a suite near elevators and laundry for 2 weeks never heard a thing, whisper quiet. Close to elevators & stairs is a good thing.
CL-JW Posted August 20, 2009 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2009 We've had cabins by elevators several times and never heard noise from them.
leoandhugh Posted August 20, 2009 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Because of our need to book an accessible cabin, we are often close to elevators, but have never noticed noise except perhaps when a large group was waiting for elevators such as before or after a show. Those noises are short lived as soon as the wait for elevators is over not a problem:)
Treven Posted August 20, 2009 #15 Share Posted August 20, 2009 Looks like the majority of the posters don't find the noise a problem & the proximity to the elevators to be a plus.
bubbadog Posted August 20, 2009 #16 Share Posted August 20, 2009 We had one cabin that was 3 doors down from the elevator, and didnt have any noise at all, unless your room is in front of elevators,i would asume your safe from noise:rolleyes:
DeepWaterMariner Posted August 20, 2009 #17 Share Posted August 20, 2009 We currently have a booking on the Royal that is close to the elevators and we've specified no upgrade to try and assure we stay there.
Billy and Charlie's Mum Posted August 21, 2009 #18 Share Posted August 21, 2009 Our last cruise we booked midships right near the elevators. We loved that position so much we have booked our next three cruises in the same spot. Very convenient and we had no noise.
