Irons???

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever brought thier owm travel iron or personal steamer with you. I plan on having my formal dresses pressed, but would like to be able to iron my own shirts and shorts daily? Any experiences would be helpful.

We bring a travel iron with us and never have a problem. I have never seen it anywhere that they were not allowed on board. That's like saying I can't bring my curling iron. I would be very upset without my curling iron, LOL!!!

That's one of those hot topic issues. Unless the statement has changed I think it says they are not supplied by RCI because of fire a hazard. It doesn't say you can't bring one yourself and I have not heard of one being confiscated on these boards. If RCI thinks there that dangerous then they should screen for them. I think profit from the paid laundry service is one of the driving factors. Would it be safer if nobody brought an iron onboard yes, but the same could be said about smoking in your cabin. I always bring an iron onboard and it really comes in handy, especially with kids.

I always travel with a steamer - the travel kind that you buy where they sell luggage - not the full iron-size steamer that you might have at home.

Never had any problems taking it onboard.

Ditto on taking the steamer and leaving the iron at home.

I have a travel steamer/iron combo. It shuts off automatically when it gets to a certain temperature. I love it, and steam all the clothes as I hang them up out of the suitcase.

I use a pillow for an ironing board.

Nothing hazardous, and our clothes look great. I have NEVER used the dry cleaning or laundry services on board.

The heck with an iron...I'm just going to go wrinkled...but on formal night, they'll be "dressy" wrinkles. Casual night will just be every-day run-of-the-mill wrinkles. Even wrinkles have to follow the dress code, you know.
