Early morning flight from Venice

Hi Everyone,

 

Many of you responded to my previous inquiry regarding hotels to stay at the night before an 8:30 am flight. Turns out almost any hotel is fine as long as I book a private water taxi which will cost about $200.

 

If we stay in the Piazzale Roma area, we can walk to the main square and get a regular taxi. I understand this area is very easy to get to from the cruise ship terminals.

 

Could someone tell me more about Piazzale Roma? Will it be disappointing to stay in that area?

we were just there in July. We stayed in St. Mark's square at Orseola Locando. Very Very nice. Staff was soooo helpful also. They have NO elevator but they do carry your luggage for you. We had an 8:00am flight out and they got up with us at 4:00am. You may take a water taxi direct from the hotel but it is rather pricey. OR, you can take the Alilaguna http://timetable.alilaguna.it/ from San Marco (Giardinetti) to the airport for something like 13 euros. There's one at 4:50 that gets in at 6:09. __________________
