Hi mtt. The simple answer to your question is 'No, I haven't changed, but I did try!'

The same thing happened to me - there was a really significant drop in the cost from my local airport although it was still a little more expensive than the airport we'd booked from. I rang to ask my agent if I could just change the flights and of course expected to pay the administration charge (of £50?) plus the small extra difference in price between the two airports.

However, I was told that the holiday is sold as a 'package' which includes the departure airport. The only way my TA could do it was to completely cancel the first booking and re-book the new one at the current costs plus the £50 admin charge but I would lose the benefits attached to the first booking which included AI as the new booking no longer offered free AI. It wasn't worth it in my case.

BUT if it's a change in booking details (i.e. airport) does that mean you can swap by cancelling one and re-booking the other if the price goes down significantly and just go from a different airport and get the lower price? Hmm, bet they wouldn't give you a refund - at best if you don't lose things like AI as in my case, it could cost you the admin fee - but I bet you wouldn't benefit from the lower price. It still might be worth £50 for the convenience though.

Pleas let us know how you get on - it will be very interesting. And good luck! :)

I did change but was a pain, you do have to pay extra ie price differences on day chaged, was gonna be £140 plus for a taxi to birmingham

Now cost an exta £192 to change to airport 15 mins drive away, no taxi needed and better flight times, worth paying the extra

I've been looking out for your post to find out how you got on. Pleased you've managed to do it and I agree with you, it's worth paying a bit more when you consider your taxi costs and the less convenient flight times from Birmingham. Good result :)
